  • Patent number: 4793205
Abstract: A self-adjusting mechanical cable-control apparatus 6 (FIG. 1) has one end 14 of the cable 1 connected to a pedal 3 by a slotted yoke 17 having a transverse coupling member 22 extending through a U-shaped aperture 21 in the pedal. A tubular spacer 23 of rigid thermoplastics extends co-axially of the cable 1 and co-operates with the yoke 17 and a fixed wall 8 to limit movement of the cable 1 toward a member 4 to be actuated by the influence of resilient biasing spring structure associated with the member 4, thereby defining a rest position unaffected by accidental excessive return displacement of the pedal. A saddle 26 of plastics material having a low co-efficient of friction lines the U-shaped aperture 21 and is connected to the yoke 17 by a spring 33 biassing the pedal 3 toward the yoke 17 and a pedal stop 13.

  • Patent number: 4751851
Abstract: Mounted slideably on an outer connector structure (6), in which is received slideably an inner connector structure (5) having a toothed zone (8) for interaction with at least one locking member (13) mounted so as to be radially displaceable in the outer connector structure (6), is a tubular actuating member (14), on which bears an axially biasing spring (18) and which forms, together with the locking member (13), at least one pair of cooperating ramp surfaces (21, 23; 22, 24) controlling the radial displacement of the locking member (13).

  • Patent number: 4494719
Abstract: The device (20) for fixing to a panel (14) a flexible conduit (12) in which a control cable (10) is housed and able to slide, comprises a cable fitting (22) joined to the conduit (12) and intended to be received in an opening (15) of the panel (14), the fitting (22) having an abutment surface (30) intended to bear against one face (15) of the panel (14), the end (24) of the conduit (12) extending beyond the free end (28) of the fitting (22) which extends on the other face (17) of the panel (14).The fitting (22) is provided with gripping means (40) whose jaws (42, 44), when tightened, are capable of pressingly engaging frictionally the outer surface (25) of the conduit (12) to immobilize the latter axially relative to the fitting (22), the latter (22) also being provided with clamping means (50) able to cause the tightening of the jaws (42, 44).

  • Patent number: 3990307
Abstract: A level indicator using an indirect method of measuring a gas pressure in order to check the level of a liquid such as the lubricant contained in the crankcase of an internal combustion engine. The level indicator includes preferably a liquid column gas-pressure gauge formed of a straight measuring tube having one end immersed in the barometric liquid contained in a reservoir, and an electrical heating resistance is located in the enclosure of the reservoir above the barometric liquid. The enclosure communicates with a tubular probe immersed in the liquid whose level is to be checked. Voltage applied to the resistance generates heat which as a result of the thermal expansion of the gas causes the gas-pressure in the enclosure to become sufficient for causing the gas to bubble in the liquid, so that the gas-pressure which is read off the pressure gauge is representative of the depth at which the probe is immersed.
