  • Patent number: 9765084
Abstract: A process for the production of a refined dianhydrosugar-containing product is disclosed. The process includes controlled continuous crystallization of the dianhydrosugar-containing product to produce a solution saturated with the dianhydrosugar. The saturated solution is mechanically separated, for example by centrifugation, and the crystalline product is washed. The only solvent used is water. The dianhydrosugar-containing product is upgraded to at least 99.8% purity and recovery is 95% or greater. Recrystallization of the dianhydrosugar of 99.8% purity results in an ultra pure product containing at least 99.99% dianhydrosugar.

  • Publication number: 20150121540
Abstract: A system for distributing a license key for upgrading an access control system. A portable token that includes first and second identifiers, such as a visible serial number and a concealed control number that can be derived from the serial number. The access control system is identified by a third identifier, such as a MAC address. A license server generates a license key from the first, second and third identifiers that is operative to allow access to software features that are resident on the access control system without the need for an Internet connection.

  • Patent number: 8702465
Abstract: The manufacture of an electrodeless bulb involves one end of a tube closed off, and a first neck is formed in the tube close to the closed end. A second neck is formed in the tube, close to the still open end; a metal halide pellet of known size is dropped into the tube and the tube is evacuated. With the vacuum being maintained heat is applied to the closed end, causing the metal halide pellet to sublime and with it the impurities. The impurities are drawn off, the vacuum being maintained and the metal halide condenses in the tube between the necks. Once the tube is cool, the evacuation is discontinued and the tube is refilled with noble gas and the quartz tube is sealed off at the second neck.

  • Patent number: 8227993
Abstract: A lamp with a quartz electrodeless bulb has a ceramic wave guide with a central void, in which the bulb is accommodated. The wave guide is rectangular. The central void is centered on a central longitudinal plane of the wave guide, normal to front and back faces of the wave guide and equally spaced from end faces. Parallel with the central void and also on the central plane are two further voids for respective antennae. The central void is open through the front face for egress of light, but the antenna voids are not open in this face. The latter is metalized to inhibit egress of microwave energy from the wave guide.

  • Publication number: 20080278281
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for operating a safety sensitive edge for the safeguarded motor-driven movement of a door or gate having a moving edge is provided. An external sensing device(s) arranged in a feedback loop is disposed proximate the moving edge of the door and generates a fault signal when an obstruction is detected or when components of the feedback loop have systemically failed. A user indicates a desire to move the door by selecting a button, which generates a depressed signal while the button is depressed. The status of these signals is provided to a controller. In the absence of the fault signal, the controller generates an output signal indicating safe movement of the door is possible. If the fault signal is present, the controller generates an output signal indicating safe movement of the door is possible when the depressed signal is provided to the controller.

  • Publication number: 20060250090
Abstract: In one aspect the plasma lamp according to the present invention comprises a gas envelope that is constructed from ceramic material and a sapphire window rather than quartz. According to another aspect of the present invention, a plasma lamp comprises an RF structure for the radio wave radiation and an envelope for housing the excitation gas that are formed so as to constitute a single, integrated ceramic structure. According to yet another aspect of the present invention, the plasma lamp comprises a waveguide structure having solid material such as ceramic rather than air for the dielectric and a gas housing made of a combination of solid ceramic and a sapphire window. • Patent number: 5675022
Abstract: Processes are disclosed for the recovery of 1,4-dioxanone by melt crystallization from a feed containing impurities capable of initiating the polymerization of 1,4-dioxanone, e.g., diethylene glycol. The processes of the present invention utilize melt crystallization in a cyclic process involving the steps of (i) crystallizing the 1,4-dioxanone out of the feed at a temperature below its melting point and removing a liquid residue containing a higher concentration of impurities, (ii) partially melting the crystallized 1,4-dioxanone to further remove impurities and (iii) thereafter, melting the remaining crystallized 1,4-dioxanone and recovering the melted product. The crystallization process can be repeated as required to achieve the desired purity. The purity of the product obtained is typically 99.5 wt %, 1,4-dioxanone or higher. The purified 1,4-dioxanone is useful, for example, as a monomer in the production of polydioxanone.
