  • Patent number: 4500689
Abstract: A low cost resinous insulating solution is made by blending a polyester resin with a solution of a reaction product admixture containing long chain alkyl phenol, short chain alkyl phenol, crosslinking agent, aldehyde and alkali catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 1983
Date of Patent: February 19, 1985
    Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.
    Inventor: Charles H. Thomas
  • Patent number: 4466203
Abstract: A stand for converting a hand held hair blow dryer to a chair-type hair drying unit. The stand includes a pair of C-clamps for being attached to the back of a ordinary kitchen chair. A stabilizer bar extends between the two C-clamps. An adjustable neck extends up from the stabilizer bar. The upper end of the neck is provided with a clamp to hold the blow dryer. A flexible hose extends from the blow dryer to a bonnet which fits over the hair of the person sitting in the chair.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 10, 1981
Date of Patent: August 21, 1984

  • Patent number: 4347335
Abstract: A high bond strength, water reducible modified polyester resin composition is disclosed which comprises: (I) a polyester resin consisting essentially of the reaction product of a: (a) aromatic dicarboxylic acid or mixtures thereof; (b) tris (2 hydroxy alkyl) isocyanurate, organic polyhydric alcohol containing more than two hydroxyl groups or mixtures thereof; (c) saturated fatty acid, and (d) tricarboxylic acid and II additive consisting essentially of: (a) 8 wt. % to 30 wt. %, based on 100% polyester solids, of an aqueous solution of a water soluble, unmodified phenol-formaldehyde resin having an average molecular weight of below about 275; and (b) 20 wt. % to 55 wt. %, based on the polyester solids of water soluble urea-formaldehyde condensation products.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4130520
Abstract: A water dispersible polyester resin solution is made by esterifying a mixture, consisting of: about 2.0 moles to about 5.0 moles of an organic, dicarboxylic acid selected from at least one, of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and tetrahydrophthalic acid; about 0.1 mole to about 1.5 moles of an organic, unsaturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid; about 0.1 mole to about 6.5 moles of an organic, saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid; about 1.0 mole to about 5.0 moles of an organic, alicyclic dihydric alcohol; 0 mole to about 5.0 moles of an organic, aliphatic dihydric alcohol and about 0.6 mole to about 1.2 moles of a compound effective to cause cross linking; and adding an amount of organic solvent effective to provide a solution of between about 50 wt. % to about 90 wt. % solids content; wherein the esterification reaction is continued until the acid value drops to between about 45 to about 65, and wherein the mole ratio of OH/COOH = 0.30 to 0.90.
