Patent number: 12021845Abstract: A method for anonymizing user identifiable information to be transmitted outside of a local network includes generating a network entity hash input based on (i) a first MAC address assigned to a client station of the local network, (ii) a second MAC address assigned to the network gateway device of the local network, and (iii) an identifier of a cloud entity of an external network to which data of the client station is to be transmitted. The method further includes generating a hash value output based on the network entity hash input and a random token value using a hashing function, generating an anonymized MAC address associated with the client station based on the hash value output, and transmitting the anonymized MAC address associated with the client station to the cloud entity of the external network.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2023Date of Patent: June 25, 2024Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventors: Kurt Alan Lumbatis, William Charles Hare, Jr., Ali Negahdar

Patent number: 11688253Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate recognizing and providing notification of events, states, and/or conditions associated with the CPE (customer premise equipment) device and/or associated networks or devices. An application running on a mobile device (e.g., smart phone) can be used to observe and diagnose electronic equipment (e.g., CPE device). Equipment can have indicators (audio, visual, etc.) that a human would have difficulty interpreting correctly. A mobile device application can be programmed to observe audio and/or visual indicators, report status and possibly recommend course(s) of corrective action to the user. Since the information observed by the mobile device is unidirectional (from the equipment to the mobile device) there is no increased security risk.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2022Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventors: William Charles Hare, Jr., Yury Melnikov, William Mohr

Publication number: 20170203232Abstract: The low-energy water reclamation process consists of evaporation from water sources, followed by capturing, condensing and reusing the water released into the atmosphere from both the evaporation process and by plant transpiration. 95% to 99% of water from plant transpiration is lost by venting to the atmosphere. We capture that water, and reuse it, to grow food or provide potable water. Reclaiming and reusing the evaporated water reduces both the amount of new water required for plant growth or potable water production, and also reduces the total energy requirement for the process. Over a large growing area, we expect to reclaim a significant amount of transpired water, which will reduce the need for new water to grow food and/or provide pure unpolluted potable water, at lower total cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2016Publication date: July 20, 2017Inventors: Duncan Charles Hare, David Hobbs

Publication number: 20170186058Abstract: This invention describes a process to migrate from an insecure, expensive proprietary IT infrastructure to a more secure, and inexpensive open source IT infrastructure. Design objectives include, Elimination of Computer Skilled on-site personnel, Elimination of licensing costs for proprietary software, Use of inexpensive commodity hardware platforms, and access to data solely through a “Remote Desktop” display screen (output) and keyboard (input).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2016Publication date: June 29, 2017Inventors: Duncan Charles Hare, David Hobbs

Patent number: 9270983Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can provide diagnosis of service-affecting issues in CPE devices. The diagnostic process can include retrieving a testing hierarchy associated with a received diagnostic command, executing the lowest-level diagnostic in the testing hierarchy, successively executing the remaining diagnostics in the testing hierarchy in the order implicated by the hierarchy until the commanded diagnostic is executed, and identifying the service-affecting issues found.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2012Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: ARRIS Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: William Charles Hare, Jr.

Publication number: 20070209043Abstract: A dynamic proxy object is disclosed that is capable of intercepting calls from a calling object to a target object. The dynamic proxy can imitate the target object so that even though the calling object may be of a different version or type from the target object, it can still communicate with the target object. Specifically, the dynamic proxy can intercept early bound invocation by the calling object, obtain metadata from these invocations, and pass it to an adapter via a set of reflective interfaces. The adapter can also obtain metadata from the target object via late bound invocations, and then compare this metadata to the metadata provided by the dynamic proxy in order to make a determination whether or not the calling object and the target object should be communicating. If so, communication can occur between the calling and target objects in spite of differing versioning or object types.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2006Publication date: September 6, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Charles Hare, John Shepard
