  • Patent number: 6375722
Abstract: A system for drying a gas includes a source of gas, a compressor connected to the source, and a heat of compression dryer connected to the compressor. The dryer includes a first tower and a second tower, each tower containing desiccant material therein. Temperature monitors are provided at the inlet of the dryer and at the outlet of the towers. Temperature readings from the temperature monitors are communicated to a controller which determines a suitable mode in which the dryer is to be placed.

  • Patent number: 6171377
Abstract: A system for drying a gas, such as air, includes a source of gas to be dried, a multi-stage compressor having an inlet connected to the source, and a dryer connected interstage to the compressor and to the outlet of the compressor. The dryer is connected interstage to the compressor between a compression stage and a heat exchanger of one of the compressor stages for regenerating a first desiccant filled tower. The dryer is also connected to the outlet of the compressor for drying the gas using a second desiccant filled tower. A communication structure can be activated to connect the first tower to the outlet of the compressor for drying the gas using the first tower, and to connect the second tower interstage to the compressor for regeneration of the second tower.

  • Patent number: 5284629
Abstract: A method for removing hydrocarbons from a stream of compressed air for use in a compressed air supply and delivery system of the type wherein a supply of compressed air is provided by a lubricated or non-lubricated air compressor includes the passing of the compressed air from the lubricated air compressor through a catalytic oxidation system to remove hydrocarbons, including vapor phase hydrocarbons, from the compressed air stream. The method contemplates feeding the stream of compressed air from an outlet of the air compressor to a treatment station, which treatment station utilizes a catalytic oxidation system to remove the hydrocarbons from the compressed air stream, thereby oxidizing the hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water and removing a predetermined, relatively high percentage of existing hydrocarbons from the compressed air stream prior to reaching downstream portions of the delivery system and any connected utilization apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5234479
Abstract: A system for compressing and drying a gas from a gas source comprises a compressor operatively connected to the source for compressing the gas. A regenerative dryer for collecting water from the gas is operatively connected to the compressor such that the compressor is within a path of gas flow between the source and the dryer. The dryer is also operatively connected to the source such that water collected from the gas and removed from the dryer does not enter the compressor. A method of compressing and drying a gas is also provided comprising the steps of: supplying a compressor with gas from a source; compressing the gas; collecting water from the gas with a regenerative dryer; regenerating the dryer by removing collected water from said dryer with a purge gas; and delivering the purge gas to the source such that no purge gas or collected water is supplied to the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4662588
Abstract: A delta-wing and a tapered-wing planform are combined and result in an airplane which does not require a tail assembly or a fuselage and which provides a means to resolve the conflicting requirements for large circular aperture payload space and low drag, high endurance flight. The invention consists of a flying machine with a moveable disk structure which enables a suitable circular aperture phased array antenna system to be operated either within the wing envelope or in a vertical position so that multiple narrow pencil beams can be electronically steered in opposite directions from the airplane. The location of the antenna with respect to the wing structure is such that it can operate with a corporate-fed array in the horizontal position and/or a space-fed array in the vertical position.
