  • Patent number: 4719319
Abstract: A coaxial cable 1 comprises, parallel and coplanar conductors 5 each surrounded concentrically by a separate corresponding dielectric sheath 6, each said dielectric sheath 6 being concentrically encircled by a separate and conductive outer conductor 7, a dielectric jacket 4 surrounding and containing each outer conductor 7, the jacket 4 being helically wrapped along the length of an elongated cord 9, a flexible and conductive film 11 helically wrapped and surrounding the jacket 4, a conductive tubular sheath 14 surrounding the conductive film 11, and an insulative outer jacket 15 surrounding the conductive sheath 14.

  • Patent number: 4693539
Abstract: An electrical connector for flat transmission cable comprises a body member having terminal-receiving passageways and conductor-receiving passageways with a continuous recess between the terminal-receiving passageways and the conductor-receiving passageways. Electrical terminals are disposed in the terminal-receiving passageways for terminating electrical conductors of a flat transmission cable which are disposed in respective conductor-receiving passageways. Cover members are secured onto the body member and they include projection members engaging the respective electrical conductors in the continuous recess to provide strain relief for the conductors. According to another aspect of the present invention, the cover members include projections that are disposed on each side of the conductor-receiving sections of the electrical terminals to prevent the electrical conductors from disconnecting from the conductor-receiving sections.

  • Patent number: 4660918
Abstract: A high density coaxial cable connector is achieved by staggering slot defining fingers at different positions along the axis along which cables are aligned. The fingers of two opposing connector portions are offset in a manner to nest with one another thus using common space to increase packing density. The resulting connectors can be organized so that they nest into a compact stack which provide for increased cable termination density along each of two axes.

  • Patent number: 4596432
Abstract: A ribbon coax cable termination comprises a ribbon coax cable including a plurality of center conductors with each center conductor surrounded by dielectric sheathing, drain conductors extending along each dielectric sheathing, metal foil encircling each dielectric sheathing and drain conductor associated therewith thereby defining coaxial conductor members and a dielectric jacket covering the coaxial conductor members and maintaining them insulated from each other and coplanar. Electrical connectors include insulating housing having electrical contacts therein which contain conductor-receiving sections in which exposed ends of the center conductors and the drain conductors are electrically connected. Elastomeric material extends along the section of the insulating housing containing the conductor-receiving sections and covering the conductor-receiving sections with the exposed ends of the center and drain conductors therein and an adjacent section of the ribbon coax cable.

  • Patent number: 4412566
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for terminating flexible flat electrical cable, including means for transposing selected pairs of adjacent conductors into a vertical orientation for subsequent common termination in a single terminal slot. The transposing means includes conductor pushing blades each of generally inverted U-shaped profile having outwardly divergent bottom surfaces, and a template having profiled channels therein defined by inwardly convergent sidewalls of a prescribed angled configuration. The cable is positioned above the template, and upon downward actuation of the conductor pushing blades against the selected pairs of adjacent conductors, said conductors are made to rotate into a vertical orientation while proceeding deeper into the profiled template channels. A combing member is further disclosed for preorientation of the selected conductor pairs prior to their insertion into the template.
