Publication number: 20240116635Abstract: A tactile signal seat belt sleeve has tactile signal producing elements arrayed along a sleeve that is adapted to fit over a seat belt for a vehicle, such as an aircraft. The elements may be arranged, for example, along the body-facing side of the belt. Each sleeve incorporates a signal-receiving element that allows for the activation of vibration-producing motors embedded in the fabric of the seat belt sleeve or belting. Vibration motors, such as piezoelectric devices, can be used to produce the tactile feedback. The haptic feedback assembly is connected to an interface unit that uses data from aircraft systems to sense, for example, the aircraft altitude and pitch, roll and yaw system. The interface unit generates signal to haptic devices to create appropriate vibrations patterns to the sleeve. The vibrations may be used to indicate directions of turn using output signals from various navigations systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2022Publication date: April 11, 2024Applicant: Textron Innovations Inc.Inventor: Charles Irving Cook

Publication number: 20150040995Abstract: A medical fluid connector is described that includes a first fluid connector portion that can be connected to a second fluid connector portion. The first fluid connector portion includes a first locking member, a lumen and a septum for sealing the lumen. The second fluid connector portion includes a second locking member, a lumen and a hollow needle that is retained in and protrudes from the aperture at the end of the lumen. The variation in cross-sectional area of the fluid path through the fluid connector portion is less than 1 mm2 to reduce mixing effects. The use of such a connector for neurosurgical purposes is described.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2013Publication date: February 12, 2015Applicant: RENISHAW (IRELAND) LIMITEDInventors: Charles Irving, Steven Streatfield Gill

Publication number: 20150018799Abstract: Fluid storage apparatus for medical use is described that includes a length of tubing having a first end and a second end. A first sealable connector portion is provided at the first end and a second sealable connector portion is provided at the second end. The volume of fluid that can be stored within the apparatus is known and an infusate or therapeutic agent is contained within the apparatus. In this manner, a known volume of therapeutic agent can be infused to a patient. The use in neurosurgical applications is described.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2013Publication date: January 15, 2015Inventors: Trefor Owen Lewis, Charles Irving, Maxwell Roy Woolley, Steven Streatfield Gill

Patent number: 8883264Abstract: Methods for powder coating that include applying a powder coating composition to a substrate via an electrostatic gun. The powder coating composition includes a mixture of two or more materials having different densities, such as a mixture of aerogel particles and fluoropolymer-containing particles. The electrostatic gun can have a high-voltage generator that generates a negative polarity voltage between about 0 KV and about 100 KV during application of the powder coating composition, and the electrostatic gun can have a round spray nozzle. Methods of making fuser members using such powder coating methods, fuser members prepared by such methods, and methods of preparing low gloss images using such fuser members.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2012Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Suxia Yang, Qi Zhang, Edward G Zwartz, Yu Qi, Gordon Sisler, David Charles Irving

Publication number: 20110232828Abstract: There is described a method for producing a fuser member. A substrate is obtained and a fluoropolymer sleeve is positioned around an outer surface of the substrate. An elastomer is injected between the outer surface of the substrate and an inner surface of the sleeve to form a fuser member and demolded. The fuser member is conditioned at a first temperature of between about 30° C. below the melting point of the fluoropolymer and about 50° C. above the melting point of said fluoropolymer for about 1 to about 20 minutes. The fuser member is then optionally held at a second temperature of about 220° C. to about 260° C. for a period of about 4 hours to about 20 hours.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2010Publication date: September 29, 2011Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Patrick James Finn, David Charles Irving
