  • Patent number: 6066379
Abstract: Paperboard having a water-repellant coating which includes a polymer matrix/wax/pigment mixture and is applied to the paperboard as an aqueous formulation. The polymer matrix includes polymer chains which are ionically cross-linked through pendant carboxylic acid groups to provide, together with the wax and pigment components, a substantially continuous, water-repellant film which more readily breaks down under the alkaline conditions of repulping. The coated board also exhibits low slip and resistance to blocking, and is particularly well-suited in corrugated box constructions used in shipping containers for perishable food items such as meats, poultry, fishery products, fruits and vegetables. The pigmented or unpigmented coating formulations are also used as an overcoat over preprinted paperboard surfaces to simultaneously provide scuff and water resistance.

  • Patent number: 5626945
Abstract: The specification discloses paperboard having a water-repellant coating which includes a polymer matrix/wax mixture and is applied to the paperboard as an aqueous formulation. The polymer matrix includes polymer chains which are ionically cross-linked through pendant carboxylic acid groups to provide, together with the wax, a substantially continuous, water-repellant film which more readily breaks down under the alkaline conditions of repulping. The coated board also exhibits improved release characteristics and resistance to blocking, and is particularly well-suited in corrugated box constructions used in shipping containers for perishable food items such as meats, poultry, fishery products, fruits and vegetables.

  • Patent number: 5165191
Abstract: A quick-convert bucket attachment for front end loaders has hydraulically positioned, interlocking bucket components that may be manipulated by controls at the tractor seat or other convenient location for rapid conversion of the attachment from a general purpose loading bucket to a side-shift angle dozer. The back wall of the bucket is formed by the dozer blade, while the side walls and floor of the bucket are formed by a clam which may be raised into an elevated position to expose the dozer, at which time the dozer may be either maintained in a centered, straight-forward position or shifted laterally into a left or right, obliquely angled position. The dozer blade is completely immobilized and is held solidly against a main base of the attachment when the clam is in its lowered position, thus presenting a rugged bucket capable of functioning in all respects as a conventional loader bucket at that time.

  • Patent number: 4862811
Abstract: A wall-mounted ironing board swingable from an upright storage orientation to a horizontal use orientation is also pivotal about an upright axis to any one of a number of rotative positions once lowered to its horizontal orientation. The ironing board is carried therebeneath by an elongated support which extends substantially along the entire length of the board and which moves with the board during pivotal motion of the latter in a horizontal plane to the selected rotative position. The board is also shiftable along the length of the support toward either a retracted position or an extended position, and the inner end of the board when in the retracted position prevents pivotal motion of the board about the upright axis. An inclined brace extending upwardly from the wall cabinet is fixed to the support and is pivotal therewith as the board swings from one rotative orientation to another.

  • Patent number: 4512849
Abstract: An improved process for forming a non-woven fabric by wet-laying, on paper making equipment, staple length, synthetic fibers having a length to diameter ratio of about 400 to 3000, and an improved, non-woven fabric produced by the process. The process involves forming a stable, viscous, uniform, air-fiber-water dispersion by: adding the fibers to a high-shear agitated mixture of water and a dispersant to separate the fibers and to completely and uniformly distribute the individual fibers throughout the resulting, high-shear agitated, air, water and fiber mixture; and then, slowly adding a thixotropic thickener to the high-shear agitated mixture to form the viscous, air-fiber-water dispersion, having a nascent viscosity of about 10 to 125 cps., when measured at a shear rate of 30.5 sec..sup.-1, and in which the individual fibers are restrained from becoming entangled and from forming knits, bundles, and strings.

  • Patent number: 4272222
Abstract: The vertically swingable boom of the apparatus is articulated to present a joint that is spaced outwardly from the horizontal swinging axis of the lift cylinder for the boom. A rigid link transversely and pivotally interconnects the lift cylinder and the inner section of the boom to control articulation of the latter about the joint during swinging of the boom. Consequently, the moment between the line of action of the lift cylinder and the boom remains favorably high at all locations on the path of swinging travel of the boom and the lift cylinder can swing through an arc approaching 180.degree. during its operation of the boom.

  • Patent number: 4235308
Abstract: The front and rear sections of the vehicle are normally free to rock relative to one another about a fore-and-aft extending, horizontal axis to the extent necessary to compensate for lateral variations in ground contour between the front and rear of the vehicle. However, when a lift on the front of the vehicle is operated and it reaches a predetermined height, a fluid-pressure circuit is activated to frictionally engage a pair of brake parts on the two sections of the vehicle so as to hold the same against free rocking, thereby making the combined masses of the two sections available to counterbalance any tendency of the lifted load to tip the vehicle over sideways as the load is raised.
