  • Publication number: 20150046031
Abstract: A switchable mount system includes a switchable mount and an electronic control unit for switching the switchable mount between a first damping mode and a second damping mode. A method for controlling the switchable mount includes controlling the mount according to vehicle speed information, engine torque information, variable cylinder management information, and brake information. At least one of the damping modes may be tuned to damp vibrations approximately in the range approximately between 30 Hz and 60 Hz.

  • Patent number: 8579309
Abstract: A vehicle frame assembly includes a structural member configured to support a vehicle body and a subframe member configured to support at least one of a vehicle suspension and an engine. The structural member includes a cavity and the subframe member includes a support section and an extension that extends transversely from the support section. The extension is received in the cavity to connect the subframe member with the structural member.

  • Patent number: 8378254
Abstract: An adaptive vehicle manufacturing system and method for reducing vibrations and/or improving interior sound performance includes optionally measuring vibration sensitivity of at least one body-in-white vehicle component. The body-in-white vehicle body is assembled at a weld station and includes the at least one body-in-white vehicle component. Optionally, vibration sensitivity of the assembled body-in-white vehicle body is measured. The body-in-white vehicle body is painted at a paint station. An optimal damping package for the body-in-white vehicle body is determined based on the measured vibration sensitivity of the at least one body-in-white vehicle component and/or the measured vibration sensitivity of the body-in-white vehicle body. Damping corresponding to the optimal damping package is applied to the body-in-white vehicle body after painting thereof at a damping station, which can include melt sheet robots for applying the damping package.

  • Patent number: 8267383
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided to facilitate measurement of forces acting on locations connecting a subframe portion and a body portion of a vehicle, such devices and methods include mount devices having an inner member, an outer member, at least one sensor, a sleeve and an annular member. The sensor is disposed within an annular chamber formed between the inner member and the outer member. The sensor is attached to at least one of the inner member and the outer member. The sensor is configured to measure force exerted on the mount device during use of a vehicle. Vehicles including these mount devices are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8260496
Abstract: An aware vehicle network system and method for one or more vehicles each having adaptive active suspensions includes at least one vehicle having a vehicle position detector for determining a vehicle position and a road condition detector for determining road condition information for any given position determined by the vehicle position detector. A transmitter sends the road condition information and the vehicle position over a vehicle communication network. A central network device receives the road condition information and the vehicle position and calculates ideal active suspension parameters based thereon. The network device sends ideal active suspension parameters over the vehicle communication network to at least another vehicle having an adaptive active suspension. The adaptive active suspension is adjusted based on the ideal suspension parameters received from the network device.
