  • Patent number: 6648381
Abstract: A trunk tie-down has a catch that releasably couples with a strike of a vehicle lock mechanism, and a latch connected with the catch, that releasably couples with an opposing catch of the vehicle lock mechanism. The latch may have a first latch portion and an opposing second latch portion, each being generally U-shaped with a bight and a pair of legs. The legs of the first and the second latch portions extend toward each other and are coupled together. The bight of the first latch portion may also lie in a first reference plane while the bight of the second latch portion lies in a second reference plane. The first and the second reference planes may be perpendicular. Each of the first and the second latch portion bights may have a dimension of thickness with the second latch portion bight being thicker than the first latch portion bight.

  • Patent number: 6189802
Abstract: A lawn and garden spreader is adapted for efficiently spreading pelletized mulches and other like applications larger in size than that typically associated with lawn and garden applications. The spreader includes a gravity flow hopper having an outlet aperture in lower portion thereof, and a horizontally oriented track disposed adjacent to the outlet aperture. A rotatable disbursement blade is situated below the outlet aperture such that an application flowing through the aperture will contact the disbursement blade. A gate is slidably mounted within the track such that the gate may be shifted between an extended position wherein the gate closes the outlet aperture and a retracted position wherein the outlet aperture is open.

  • Patent number: 6021598
Abstract: A pourable, granular paper mulch product including a granular solid comprising at least about 85% paper by weight and at least about 6% water by weight, and having a settled density of at least about 15 pounds per cubic foot is prepared by comminuting paper, mixing the comminuting paper with water to form a pulp, extruding the pulp through a die orifice, chopping the extrudate to a length of less than about 1/8 inch to form granules, and drying the granules to achieve a final moisture content of from about 6% to about 13% by weight. The granular paper mulch product exhibits excellent flow characteristics, and can be easily applied to a damaged area of lawn such as by pouring the patch composition directly from a box.
