  • Patent number: 5927585
Abstract: An electric powered multiple impact fastener driving tool comprising a handle portion, a main body portion, a guide block, a magazine, and a guide and biasing assembly mounted in the guide block and affixed to the magazine enabling shifting of the magazine within the guide block between an extended fastener starting position and a retracted fastener driven position. The main body portion contains an impact assembly comprising a motor driven cam wheel with a single drop-off, a cam follower roller mounted on a reciprocable hammer, a compression spring surmounting and abutting the hammer, and a fastener driver. For each rotation of the cam wheel, the cam follower roll lifts the hammer, compressing the spring and storing energy therein. At the cam wheel drop-off, the cam follower wheel and hammer drop under the influence of the spring and the hammer impacts the driver which imparts a blow to the fastener. The cam follower wheel does not contact the cam wheel immediately after drop-off.

  • Patent number: 5579975
Abstract: A fastener driving tool capable of locating a preformed hole in a first workpiece, aligning the drive track of the tool with the hole, and thereafter driving a fastener, such as a nail, through the hole and into a second workpiece to attach the first workpiece to the second workpiece. The tool has a magazine comprising an outer portion affixed to the tool and its drive track containing guide body, and an inner portion containing a strip of nails and pivoted at its rearward end to the rearward end of the outer magazine portion. The inner magazine portion is pivotable within the outer magazine portion between a first position wherein the forwardmost nail of the strip extends well beyond the nose of the guide body serving as a probe to locate and enter the workpiece hole, and a second position wherein the forwardmost nail of the strip is still engaged in the workpiece hole and is properly aligned in the drive track to be driven by the tool driver through the first workpiece hole and into the second workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4506159
Abstract: An apparatus for charging a dosimeter which has a capacitor connected between first and second electrodes and a movable electrode in a chamber electrically connected to the first electrode. The movable electrode deflects varying amounts depending upon the charge present on said capacitor. The charger apparatus includes first and second charger electrodes couplable to the first and second dosimeter electrodes. To charge the dosimeter, it is urged downwardly into a charging socket on the charger apparatus. The second dosimeter electrode, which is the dosimeter housing, is electrically coupled to the second charger electrode through a conductive ring which is urged upwardly by a spring. As the dosimeter is urged into the socket, the ring moves downwardly, in contact with the second charger electrode.

  • Patent number: 4150784
Abstract: A card reader includes a housing enclosing the operating components thereof which is provided with a card insertion slot. A baffle is movable between blocking and unblocking positions to block and unblock the card insertion slot, as desired. Located interiorly of the housing is a card carriage which reciprocates between a first limit position proximate the card insertion slot and a second limit position remote therefrom for transporting an inserted card along a path past a transducer located inside the housing proximate the second limit of travel for reading information from the card. A cam is provided on the carriage which cooperates with a cam follower associated with the baffle for camming the baffle from its card insertion slot blocking position to its card insertion slot unblocking position and vice versa, as the carriage moves toward and away from, respectively, its first limit position proximate the card insertion slot.
