    Abstract: A method of constructing a top-loaded padmounted distribution transformer in which closing of the transformer tank by welding on a top cover is one of the final manufacturing operations. Weld damage to the painted surfaces, which occurs when the cover is welded to the tank, is confined to areas outside of the terminal cover which may be repaired by production line painting techniques, utilizing the terminal cover to "mask" components on the terminal wall.
