Publication number: 20070152441Abstract: A connection system for connecting tubular members to each other includes a rotatable connector sleeve on one of the tubular members. A make-up tool has a curved rack of gear teeth that are engagable with the connector sleeve for causing rotation of the connector sleeve in unison with the rack. The make-up tool includes a power tool having a drive motor that rotates a drive shaft. A pinion gear mounted on the drive shaft engages the teeth of the rack to cause the rack to move in a rotational direction when the drive shaft is rotated. This movement causes the connector sleeve to rotate to make-up or break-out the connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2006Publication date: July 5, 2007Inventors: Charles Jennings, Brian Munk

Publication number: 20070044975Abstract: An offshore riser system has riser joints, each having a pin and a box. The pin has an external grooved profile that is engaged by a locking element carried by the box of another riser joint. An actuating ring engages with the locking element to move it into the locked position. A retractable spider supports the string of riser while the new joint is being made up. A makeup tool on the riser deploying floor moves the ring relative to the locking element, causing the locking element to move to the locked position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2006Publication date: March 1, 2007Inventors: Thomas Fraser, Charles Jennings, John Nelson

Publication number: 20050152509Abstract: A communication system that comprises call processors, interworking units, and a control system handles a plurality of calls. The call processors process signaling messages for the calls, and in response, transfer control messages for the calls and transfer data messages for the calls. The interworking units receive the control messages and user communications for the calls and interwork the user communications between a first communication format and a second communication format in response to the control messages. The control system receives and processes the data messages for the calls to maintain an active call database having call data for active ones of the calls. The control system receives a query, and in response, processes the active call database to identify one of the active calls that satisfies the query.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2005Publication date: July 14, 2005Inventors: Tracy Nelson, Charles Jennings

Publication number: 20040025186Abstract: A system and method for streaming media comprises a stream routing processor, a switch controller, a stream caster, media storage, and a packet switch. The stream routing processor determines if the stream caster is configured to stream requested media. The switch controller monitors the status of all devices and events and notifies the stream routing processor if an error or alarm condition occurs. The stream caster streams media upon receiving a valid reservation identification. The media storage stores the media for retrieval by the stream caster. The packet switch transmits signaling and media from the system and between devices of the system, including the stream routing processor, the switch controller, the stream caster, and the media storage.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2001Publication date: February 5, 2004Inventors: Charles A.
