    Abstract: Containerless apparatus for accessing a pressurized member and identifying fluid contents thereof includes a support for an access port to be provided to the interior of the member, a cutting device removably secured to the support for cutting a substantially flat sealing portion in the exterior of the member, a seal forming coupling secured to the support for forming a seal with substantially flat sealing portion, and a drilling mechanism including a drilling tool for drilling an access port in the sealing portion of the member through the coupling. A valve may be included between the drilling mechanism and the coupling to control the passage of fluid, with the drilling tool passing through the valve when such valve is in the open position. A sampling mechanism may be secured in fluid-tight relation to the drilling mechanism for sampling the fluid contents of the member.
