Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is optionally substituted phenyl, R.sub.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl and W is oxygen or sulfur are produced by reaction of a corresponding phenyl cyanamide with an epoxide or episulfide in the presence of a base and optionally a solvent.

Abstract: Novel fungicidal pyridyl carboximides having the general structural formula ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, preferably methyl;R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of halogen such as chlorine, fluorine and bromine, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy such as propoxyethoxy and methoxy, preferably methoxy, and C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyloxy;R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, heterocyclic moieties, aryl, preferably phenyl, substituted aryl, preferably substituted phenyl wherein the substitutions are chlorine, fluorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl and --NO.sub.3 ;X is --O or --S; andY is --O or --S;and fungicidally acceptable organic and inorganic salts thereof which are highly effective fungicides for use both as preventive and curative fungicides are disclosed herein.

Abstract: Herbicidal bis-formyl-N-aryl-N'-alkyl ureas having the formula ##STR1## in which X and Y are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of trifluoromethyl, chloro, bromo, fluoro, hydrogen, cyano, alkyl, thioalkyl, halothioalkyl, alkoxy and sulfonylalkyl, wherein the alkyl groups have from one to four carbon atoms; andR is alkyl wherein the alkyl groups have from one to four carbon atoms and methods of use are disclosed and claimed.

Abstract: N-(substituted and unsubstituted benzenesulfonyl) thiocarbamates as new compositions of matter useful as active herbicidal antidotes to protect various crops from injury when used with a thiocarbamate herbicide; improved herbicidal compositions and utility of said compositions employing N-benzenesulfonyl thiocarbamates having the formula ##STR1## wherein X is hydrogen, methyl, chloro, bromo, or methoxy; n is an interger 1 to 3, inclusive; R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl; and R.sub.2 is alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, inclusive, methylthio-p-chlorobenzenesulfonyl carbamate, benzyl or 4-chlorophenyl; provided that when X is hydrogen and R.sub.1 is methyl, the R.sub.2 is other than ethyl.
