Publication number: 20060264986Abstract: The present invention is directed to gastrointestinal or enteric (including biliary) anastomosis and the like. The anastomotic device of the invention is a three dimensional woven tube of wire. The outer loops or ends of the tube fold or loop back on deployment in a manner which holds the luminal interface of the anastomotic site into apposition at the deployment site. The woven tube is deployed using a protective sleeve and nose assembly. Adjustment of the wire diameter and/or material properties of the wire can cause the anastomotic device to remain in place permanently or, for example, in the case of the intestine to slough through the two apposing walls of the lumen resulting in the device safely passing through the intestine leaving a naturally healed, properly functioning anastomosis.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2006Publication date: November 23, 2006Applicant: ParK Medical, LLCInventors: Adrian Park, Charles Knapp

Patent number: 6084700Abstract: An electronic circuit for an electrochromic element. In order to improve the response time of the electrochromic element and reduce the cost and complexity, a modulated signal, such as a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal is coupled to the electrochromic element without signal averaging. In order to compensate for the compressed operating range of the reflectance characteristic under such conditions, the electronic circuit in accordance with the present invention utilizes active loading or alternatively voltage feedback of the electrochromic element to provide a reflectance response characteristic with an uncompressed linear operating range similar to a reflectance characteristic for an electrochromic element with a DC drive circuit.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Gentex CorporationInventors: Robert Charles Knapp, Robert Ralph Turnbull, Gerald Bruce Poe

Patent number: 5923028Abstract: A system and method for optimizing the signal range of a photocell for all ambient lighting conditions. A switched resistor circuit is serially connected to the photocell. The duty cycle of the switched resistor circuit is controlled to provide an optimal signal range for the photocell in both light and dark ambient light conditions.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1997Date of Patent: July 13, 1999Assignee: Gentex CorporationInventors: Robert Ralph Turnbull, Robert Charles Knapp, David Joseph Schmidt

Patent number: 5732381Abstract: A method and system for generating a fuel pulse output signal to control fuel delivery from a fuel injector to a cylinder of an internal combustion engine. A plurality of holding registers asynchronously receive a plurality of fuel pulse data from a processor. The plurality of holding registers are memory-mapped and store the plurality of fuel pulse data until subsequent fuel pulse data is received from the processor. A plurality of match registers are coupled to the plurality of holding registers for comparing the fuel pulse data with a reference signal and generating a fuel pulse output signal based on the comparison between the fuel pulse data and the reference signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignees: Ford Motor Company, Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Samuel James Guido, Rollie Morris Fisher, John Mark Wilson, Micah Charles Knapp, Gary Lynn Miller, Philip Enrique Madrid

Patent number: 5638798Abstract: A method and system for generating an ignition coil output signal to control charging and discharging of a plurality of ignition coils in an internal combustion engine. A plurality of holding registers asynchronously receive a plurality of ignition coil data from a processor. The plurality of holding registers are memory-mapped and store the plurality of ignition coil data until subsequent ignition coil data is received from the processor. A sensor is provided for determining a position of the engine and generating a corresponding engine signal. A plurality of match registers are coupled to the plurality of holding registers for comparing the ignition coil data with a reference signal and generating an ignition coil output signal for receipt by one of the plurality of ignition coils based on the engine signal and the comparison between the ignition coil data and the reference signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1996Date of Patent: June 17, 1997Assignees: Ford Motor Company, Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Samuel James Guido, Rollie Morris Fisher, John Mark Wilson, Micah Charles Knapp, Gary Lynn Miller, Philip Enqirue Madrid, Rudolf Bettelheim

Patent number: 4534810Abstract: A smoke-producing composition which will produce a dense smoke in about 5 conds and continues to produce a visible cloud having a duration of about 10 minutes for military screening operations in the field. The composition has critical limits in proportions and particle size for effective and efficient use in the 81 mm mortar cartridge. The composition consists essentially of 75 to 90 parts red phosphorus of 10.+-.5.mu. in size, 10 to 20 parts sodium nitrate of 30.+-.15.mu., and 4 to 10 parts of an epoxy binder. All parts being by weight.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1984Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventor: Charles A. Knapp

Patent number: 4438700Abstract: A pyrotechnic spotting charge for training projectiles contains 30-50% zinc owder, 10-30% aluminum powder, 10-30% potassium nitrate or sodium nitrate, and 10-30% potassium perchlorate. The composition (a) is fast reacting and produces a large volume of white smoke visible at a great distance before the projectile buries itself in the ground and (b) is of low brisance and does not cause fragmentation of the projectile.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1982Date of Patent: March 27, 1984Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventor: Charles A. Knapp
