  • Patent number: 8999250
Abstract: One exemplary embodiment can be a process for mixing catalyst in a regenerator. The process can include providing a first stream of catalyst, a second stream of catalyst mixed with the first stream of catalyst, and an oxygen-containing gas to a chamber via a distributor of the regenerator. Generally, the chamber imparts a swirl to at least one of the oxygen-containing gas, the first catalyst, and the second catalyst for regenerating the catalyst.

Date of Patent: April 7, 2015
    Assignee: UOP LLC

  • Publication number: 20120312722
Abstract: One exemplary embodiment can be a process for fluid catalytic cracking The process can include providing a mixture of a fuel gas and at least one of steam and nitrogen to a catalyst stripping zone of a reaction zone. Usually, the fuel gas is added in an amount effective to add heat duty to a regeneration zone for a catalyst of the reaction zone.

  • Patent number: 4425301
Abstract: A catalyst regeneration process and apparatus for the oxidative removal of coke from a coke contaminated fluid catalyst. The process comprises a high temperature coke combustion zone, a catalyst disengagement zone and an external heat removal zone. A mixture of coke contaminated catalyst, oxygen containing gas, hot regenerated catalyst and cool regenerated catalyst from the heat removal zone are contacted in the high temperature combustion zone, the temperature of which is controlled by adjusting the rate at which catalyst is recycled from the heat removal zone. The temperature of the catalyst-gas mixture is controlled by adjusting the rate at which hot catalyst is recycled from the disengagement zone.

  • Patent number: 4198287
Abstract: A method for regenerating a coke-contaminated cracking catalyst with the simultaneous carefully controlled combustion of CO to CO.sub.2 within a regeneration zone to produce regenerated catalyst and flue gas. Novel features of the method include adding to the regeneration zone, independently of the cracking catalyst, a CO oxidation promoter and combusting CO to CO.sub.2 in the presence of the promoter and regenerated catalyst. The oxidation promoter may be added to the regeneration zone in amounts to control the CO concentration in the flue gas, a regeneration zone temperature, or the residual carbon concentration on regenerated catalyst.

Novel features of the method include adding to the regeneration zone, independently of the cracking catalyst, a supported CO oxidation promoter and combusting CO to CO.sub.2 in the presence of the promoter and regenerated catalyst. A supported oxidation promoter may be added to the regeneration zone in amounts to control the CO concentration in the flue gas, a regeneration zone temperature, or the residual carbon concentration on regenerated catalyst.
