  • Patent number: 8617035
Abstract: An exercise device, comprising an elongate member which has a pair of end regions with a pair of opposed end portions. Each end portion has a body wherein each body has one of a pair of opposed first end faces and at least a pair of first weighted segments. Each of the weighted segments is removably attachable to the elongate member and/or a corresponding end portion in an operative position. Each first weighted segment also has a second end face which abuts the first end face in the operative position. Each body has a first exterior surface region including and anchor portion for attaching thereto at least one elongate resilient portion at one end of the resilient portion and to a fixed object at the opposing end. A method for using the device is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6078659
Abstract: The present invention provides an efficient recovery mechanism when a toll switch within a telephone network is inoperative. A telephone network management operating system and a network manager determines that a toll switch is sufficiently inoperative and invokes a trunk group reconfiguration mechanism. A cross connect system, such as a DCS (Digital Cross-connect System), links the toll-completing trunk groups coming into such an inoperative toll switch to intertoll trunk groups coming into such a toll switch. In this manner, an alternative toll switch within the telephone network replaces the inoperative toll switch for such toll-completing trunk groups thereby restoring operation to customers previously tied to the inoperative toll switch in an efficient and low-cost manner by using already existing components within the telephone network.

  • Patent number: 4285303
Abstract: A two-cycle internal combustion engine has a plurality of parallel cylinders supporting a central drive shaft, a piston in each cylinder having an outer extension connected to a swash plate rotatably mounted on an inclined portion of the drive shaft. The swash plate adjacent portions of the drive shaft and the connection of the piston rods to the swash plate are in sealed oil-filled chambers at opposite ends of the cylinders. Ball and socket joints by which the pistons are connected to the swash plates are slidable radially of the swash plate to function as pumps forcing oil from the swash plate chamber through central tubes in hollow extensions into the pistons for lubricating and cooling the pistons and cylinders, after which the oil returns through the hollow piston rods to the oil chamber. Preferably the invention is embodied in an opposed piston engine having swash plates adjacent both ends of the cylinder.
