  • Patent number: 9230484
Abstract: A transform function represented by at least n points that define n?1 regions is determined based at least in part on a first set of values associated with a display frame and a maximum average contrast function. The n points can be determined in response to a change in an average contrast of the display frame compared to an average contrast of a previous display frame exceeding a predetermined threshold. The first set of values is converted to a corresponding second set of values based on the transform function. A backlight control signal is generated based on an average contrast of the second set of values, whereby the backlight control signal is configured to control an intensity of a backlight of a display. Further, a video signal is generated based on the second set of values, whereby the video signal configured to drive the display.

  • Patent number: 8284087
Abstract: A method comprises disabling a video digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that is configured to provide an output current representative of a video signal to an output node of an accessory connector in an enabled state. The accessory connector is coupleable to an accessory device. The method further comprises determining, while the video DAC is disabled, whether the accessory connector is coupled to the accessory device based on a voltage at the output node while the output node is connected to the first voltage reference via a resistor having a resistance.

  • Patent number: 8031093
Abstract: An n bit D/A decoder is formed using P-type and N-type transistor switches, instead of convention CMOS switches. Each P-type and N-type switch may be formed of fewer transistors than those used to form a CMOS switch, thereby reducing the overall transistor count. The decoder may be used to decode digital values to non-linear GAMMA corrected analog output voltages.

  • Patent number: 7904838
Abstract: An integrated circuit includes a core-logic providing a core-logic output, a latch in communication with the core-logic to store a state of the core-logic output, and an isolation circuit for selectively interconnecting the core-logic output to an input of the latch. The circuit also includes and a power consumption controller in communication with the core-logic, the latch and the isolation circuit, for controlling the latch to store a state of the core-logic output, and output a corresponding signal. The controller is further operable to signal the isolation circuit to isolate the core-logic output from the latch by providing an output corresponding to predetermined value and transition the core-logic from a high power state and a low power state. This prevents transient signals from propagating to interconnected circuit blocks and external devices.

  • Patent number: 7770040
Abstract: To provide reduced power consumption of a co-processor, a low power dedicated memory is provided. During a low power state, a processing component of the co-processor is instructed to use the low power dedicated memory and a first memory device, normally used by the processing component, is thereafter operated in a reduced power mode for the duration of the low power state. Preferably, the low power dedicated memory has a storage capacity that is significantly less than the storage capacity of the first memory. When an operating state other than the low power state is detected, normal power consumption by the first memory is resumed and the co-processor is directed to use the first memory once again. In this manner, the present invention allows co-processors, and preferably graphics co-processors, to operate in a beneficial low power mode thereby reducing power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20070296201
Abstract: A bookmark that includes a light which can be carried by a book to light a page presented for viewing for reading. A portion of the bookmark is manipulable relative to another portion of the bookmark between a bookmark position and a light operating position with one of the portions receivable between a pair of pages of the book underlying the page presented for viewing that is lit by the light. One portion preferably includes a segment and the other portion preferably includes a segment with a joint that preferably includes a hinge disposed therebetween. A position actuated switch cooperates with at least one of the segments to turn on the light when the bookmark is manipulated into the light operating position. Such a bookmark can be configured to provide additional functions such as a magnifier, a picture frame, a clock and/or a calculator.

  • Publication number: 20060183329
Abstract: An apparatus and method of treating multiple wafers to reduce the density of impurities as well as to improve the uniformity of substrate electrical characteristics without any thermal stress. The wafers are chemically treated, and heat treated in a sealed reaction tube under arsenic overpressure with a controlled thermal profile to heat the wafers. The thermal profile controls temperature of different zones inside of a furnace containing the sealed reaction tube. Impurities of the wafers are dissolved, and are out-diffused from the inner portions to the outer portions of the wafers.

  • Patent number: 7017053
Abstract: A system and method are provided for reducing power consumption within a video processing portion of a system based on display content. Display content is monitored to determine whether the display content is changing. New display content is compared to old display content to determine if the display content is changing. If the display content has not changed, a frame rate used to output display data is reduced. A color depth associated with the display data is also reduced. Power consumption can be reduced when it is determined that display content is not changing.

  • Patent number: 7012610
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for supporting an external display on a portable device. A system on a chip (SOC) of the portable device provides a first set of graphics data to a graphics controller. The embedded graphics controller renders the first set of graphics data for output using an LCD screen integrated with the portable device. The SOC renders a second set of graphics data and provides rendered graphics data to an external display interface. The external display interface formats the rendered graphics data for output on an external, remote display.
