  • Publication number: 20070206550
Abstract: A method and apparatus for simultaneously processing data in a wireless communication system comprises a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) having a plurality of communication links. The WTRU determines desired characteristics for each communication link. Data traffic is mapped to at least one communication link based on the link characteristics, and a desired redundancy level. • Patent number: 7265715
Abstract: In a communications device operating with a blind signal separation (BSS) processor, an initial mixing matrix is formed based upon the different summations of the source signals received by the antenna array. The initial mixing matrix is evaluated to determine a minimum rank that is necessary for at least one source signal to be useable after having been separated from the initial mixing matrix and decoded. An additional mixing matrix is then formed, and also includes the different summations of the source signals. If the rank of the additional mixing matrix is less than the minimum rank associated with the initial mixing matrix, then the source signals are modified so that the rank of the additional mixing matrix is increased.

  • Patent number: 7190808
Abstract: Signals encoded with watermark information are generated and broadcast into a protected area for capture by illicit recording devices along with their intended targets. An illicit recording in which at least a portion of the broadcast watermark signals are recorded is obtained and correlated with a known position of the broadcast watermark signals to yield the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, a surveillance device, being image and time synchronized with a signal broadcasting device, monitors and records the protected area. Illicit recordings containing the broadcast watermark are obtained and correlated with corresponding recordings taken by the surveillance device to identify the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, the surveillance device further monitors the quality of the broadcast watermark signals and adjusts them accordingly to achieve a desired quality level.

  • Patent number: 7130070
Abstract: A two-phase asynchronous print tracking system and method is described. The separation of detection of print activity and billing of print activity is accomplished by means of a quota-based message queue. Print jobs sent by a user are allowed to print without interruption until a quota number of print jobs for which no billing information has been entered are reached. When the quota is exceeded, the user may not continue until appropriate billing information is entered.

  • Patent number: 7127213
Abstract: Alternate methods, devices and systems are presented for providing service providers and/or end users of mobile stations to monitor and/or report regions with high error rates and/or dead zones. A protocol is provided such as to yield the error occurrence, error rate and/or the address of the end user. In some embodiments it also contains location information and time of day information. This information may be collected from the G.P.S., and/or all or a portion of users when there is a significant transmission difficulty and/or an abundance of errors. The collected data forms a database which is analyzed to generate coverage maps. This may include the dynamic aspects of the mobile network. In another aspect of this invention, each mobile station periodically compares its current location with the data base. The results of this comparison enables the mobile unit to anticipate connection problems.

  • Patent number: 7003335
Abstract: Sensors measuring body conditions forward their data to a concentration point which transmits to a cellular phone through a wireless communication. The cellular phone incorporates a program which formats the data as a multimedia call. Information regarding status is transmitted using session initiated protocol or packet-based multimedia communications. The a second user's cellular phone is connected to a series of acupuncture needles connected to a cellular phone distributor through a network of thin electrical wires, which may be integrated into a wearable body item such as a glove, body shirt, full body garment, mask or the like. A program interprets the communication from the sending user and translates it into positive or negative stimuli.

  • Patent number: 6913191
Abstract: Method and apparatus for use in a variety of communications systems providing one or more payment alternatives for communication services and automatically selecting of a group of alternative payment techniques while significantly reducing the amount of interactive activity required from the user. Upon entry of a request to establish communications between calling and called electronic devices, the system initially looks towards a primary service provider. Absent acceptance of the request for service by the primary service provider, for whatever reason, the system automatically reverts to an alternative service provider and/or payment provider by searching data provided by the user and coupled to the electronic device for which a communication link is requested, eliminating the need for any further input by the user in the form of redialing the call, providing data through insertion of a debit or credit card, for example, identifying the alternative payment provider.
