  • Publication number: 20030126076
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing secure mobile commerce transactions. A mobile device submits a request for an electronic transaction at a vendor system; the request includes a telephone number associated with the mobile device. The vendor system sends a request for authorization to a transaction authorization system. The transaction authorization system sends a request for confirmation to a messaging center associated with the wireless telephony system. The messaging center transmits a message to the mobile device associated with the telephone number; the message includes a request for a user of the mobile device to send a reply to the message to confirm the request for an electronic transaction. Upon receipt of a reply, the messaging center transmits a transaction confirmation to the transaction authorization system, which then transmits a transaction authorization message to the vendor system. The vendor system then initiates the completion of the requested electronic transaction.

  • Publication number: 20030112977
Abstract: Data is securely stored encrypted within a database server or portal within a public network. A wireless device first registers with an authentication center maintained separately from the database server to obtain a session key. The obtained session key is then used by the wireless device to request particular data from the database server. The database server, in response to said request, queries the authentication center to verify the authenticity of the wireless device. The authentication center verifies the received session key with the identified wireless device and provides the wireless device with a second group key. The authentication center further instructs the database server to comply with the data request and provide the wireless device with the encrypted data. The wireless device thereafter uses the received group key to decrypt the received data from the database server and is allowed access to the secured data.

  • Patent number: 6487404
Abstract: A system and method of detecting radio network trends in a telecommunications network. A data mining tool (52) is provided and adapted to search through the various operations and maintenance database systems belonging to one or more communications network(s) (60). The data mining tool searches through the databases to find correlations and dependencies among the parameters of the data collected and stored in the database systems. The correlations and dependencies found are then reported for further analysis which can, in turn, be used in optimization, maintenance and trouble shooting of the network.

  • Publication number: 20020086679
Abstract: The present invention may include a method of increasing cell use in a dedicated network. The method may include the steps of measuring cell traffic loads within the dedicated network, restricting access to the dedicated network during a first time period to users within the dedicated network, and allowing access to the dedicated network during a second time period to users outside the dedicated network.

  • Patent number: 6405050
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for transmitting and receiving group calls are illustrated. The group call register includes a counter value which identifies particular calls. The counter value is transmitted in the notification message, thereby identifying both the group and the group call. After the subscriber finishes listening to the group call, the subscriber can cause the mobile station to store the group identification number and the counter value in the group call history memory to prevent being alerted of the same group call in the event that the call is repeated. Additionally, the mobile station establishes a point-to-point call to an acknowledgment center and transmits the group identification number as well as the counter value. The group identification number and the counter value are stored in the acknowledgement center, thereby establishing a record of mobile stations that have listened to particular calls.

  • Patent number: 6219548
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for updating Group Call Registers (GCR) is presented, wherein modifications to group call areas are transmitted to neighboring Mobile Switching Center/Visitor Location Register (MSC/VLR) service areas. Information regarding cells which are either added to, removed from a group, or part of a new or terminated group is transmitted to any neighboring MSC/VLR service areas adjacent to the cell. In one embodiment, the information is transmitted over the Signaling System 7 (SS7) Network. In a second embodiment, the information is sent over a network connecting the GCRs.

  • Patent number: 5852660
Abstract: Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) parameters within a signal generated within a first SS7 telecommunications network are converted into values and formats acceptable by a second SS7 telecommunications network by a converter residing within a gateway Signal Transfer Point (STP). Such a converter enables signals containing application layer data to be transported across two different SS7 telecommunications networks that are otherwise incompatible.
