  • Patent number: 11916534
Abstract: A moveable micromachined member of a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device includes an insulating layer disposed between first and second electrically conductive layers. First and second mechanical structures secure the moveable micromachined member to a substrate of the MEMS device and include respective first and second electrical interconnect layers coupled in series, with the first electrically conductive layer of the moveable micromachined member and each other, between first and second electrical terminals to enable conduction of a first joule-heating current from the first electrical terminal to the second electrical terminal through the first electrically conductive layer of the moveable micromachined member.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: SiTime Corporation
Inventors: Joseph C. Doll, Nicholas Miller, Charles I. Grosjean, Paul M. Hagelin, Ginel C. Hill
  • Patent number: 5222972
Abstract: A forceps comprising first and second elongated elements having proximal and distal end portions. The proximal end portions are joined together so that the distal end portions are movable toward and away from each other. The distal end portion of the first elongated element includes a platform having a substantially flat surface sized and adapted to carry a foldable intraocular lens in an unfolded state. The distal end portion of the second elongated element includes an elongated rod which is narrower than the substantially flat surface of the platform.

    Assignee: Allergan, Inc.
Inventors: Charles M. Hill, Daniel Brady, Lyle E. Paul
  • Patent number: 5098439
Abstract: An apparatus for inserting a foldable lens into an eye through an incision in the eye comprising: a paddle permanently affixed to the apparatus, and sized and adapted to contact the lens in the unfolded state; an elongated tube including a distally open interior space sized and adapted to receive the paddle in contact with the lens in the folded state, and a distal end portion sized and adapted to be inserted into the eye through the incision, the tube being cooperable with the paddle to fold the lens into the folded state as the lens in contact with the paddle is received through the distal opening into the interior space; and a mechanism to provide relative movement between the paddle and the tube.

  • Patent number: 4075481
Abstract: A gas analyzer is provided which is particularly suited for making transcutaneous measurement of the CO.sub.2 concentration in the blood. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, sample gases from the body are circulated in a cavity of the device. A rotating wheel in the cavity includes two reference cells and a sample cell which are sequentially rotated into the optical path between a source and a detector. Three signals are thereby provided which may be combined to give an output indication of the CO.sub.2 concentration in the body fluids. In a preferred embodiment, the sample cell is an "inverted cell" being in open communication with the sample gas circulating in the device so that the gas in the sample cell is a portion of the circulating gas which also surrounds the two reference cells. An output indication is thereby obtained which is insensitive to contaminants in the sample.
