  • Patent number: 5971207
Abstract: A nozzle apparatus and method for dispensing powdered material from a container such as a cardboard shipping box. The apparatus has a shaft with a tip in the shape of a slant-cut cylinder which is manually inserted into the container through the container wall and an inner plastic lining of the container. A threaded portion on the shaft in the form of an increasing radius helix thread causes the apparatus to tighten against the wall of the container when the user manually rotates a gripping portion of the apparatus. A passageway extends from the tip to a fitting outside the container which can be connected to a vacuum source such as a powder pump to draw in the powder coating material. The fluidized powder is then carried to a spray gun for powder coating an object. A second passageway may be carried within the shaft and extend from an opening within the container to a fitting outside the container to carry a pressurized gas into the container.

  • Patent number: 5478209
Abstract: A jet barrel and hose fitting insert are provided for a jet pump that supplies coating powder to a spray gun. The insert reduces the likelihood of impact fusion in the barrel and fitting. The insert comprises a cylindrical portion of small outside diameter in alignment with a cylindrical portion of large outside diameter with a longitudinal bore through both portions. The insert is retained in a hose fitting which fastens into the jet pump. The upstream end of the insert is positioned to receive the jet flow and to close a supplementary air chamber in the pump.

  • Patent number: 5066318
Abstract: A removable gasket is provided for use in sealing a filter element. A resilient top wall has a central opening. A lip extends transversely from the top wall. The top wall and lip define a cavity to accommodate a filter element. A channel that opens into the cavity is provided in the top wall to accommodate a separate gasket mounted to the filter element.

  • Patent number: 4548363
Abstract: An electrostatic spray gun muzzle comprises an insulating tube having a rear end adapted to be mounted in an electrostatic spray gun and a front end providing an exit for charged coating material. A conductive rod is mounted axially within the tube and has a conductive pin extending radially from one end thereof. The pin is electrically connected to a power terminal when the rear end of the insulated tube is mounted in a spray gun. A plurality of conductive centering bars extend radially from the rod, adjacent the front end of the insulating tube, to maintain the rod in centered, axial alignment with the insulating tube. An insulating deflector is mounted to the conductive rod, forward of the front end of the insulating tube.
