  • Patent number: 11953953
Abstract: An avionics unit assembly for an aircraft can include an avionics unit (e.g., an underwater locator device, “ULD”), and a battery to power the avionics unit. The avionics unit assembly can further include a housing that encases the avionics unit and the battery. The housing includes a vent port for exhausting an emission from the housing during a failure of the avionics unit. The avionics unit assembly can further include one or more of a suppressor that filters the emission, a shield element that is resistant to chemical and/or thermal effects of the emission, and a bracket for mounting the avionics unit to a surface. A method integrating the avionics unit assembly onto a forward aircraft bulkhead at a mount location under an aircraft radome and for manufacturing the avionics unit, and an aircraft including the avionics unit are also described.

  • Patent number: 4606430
Abstract: A safety restraint device is adapted to be mounted on a rail of a railway track, and includes a substantially U-shaped hood having a pair of hinged hood sections each supporting upper and lower rollers for engagement respectively with upper and lower surfaces of the ball of the rail. The upper rollers are adjustable for accommodating different rail weights, the rollers are located wholly within the hood, and the hinged hood sections permit quick assembly to and removal from the rail.

  • Patent number: 4446914
Abstract: An air cooled dry cooling tower (10) has two sets of heat exchange assemblies (14,15) whose radiator surface (16) (e.g. tubular bundles) is substantially horizontally disposed, generally in the form of two frustra of cones whose axes are on or near the vertical tower center-line, the frustra being placed one on top of the other, in opposite directions, such that a section through the radiator surfaces is V-shaped. The angle of the tubular bundles can be varied to minimize the angle of incidence of the prevailing wind conditions and to avoid excessive fouling of the finned surface of the tubes in the bundles.
