  • Patent number: 11953953
Abstract: An avionics unit assembly for an aircraft can include an avionics unit (e.g., an underwater locator device, “ULD”), and a battery to power the avionics unit. The avionics unit assembly can further include a housing that encases the avionics unit and the battery. The housing includes a vent port for exhausting an emission from the housing during a failure of the avionics unit. The avionics unit assembly can further include one or more of a suppressor that filters the emission, a shield element that is resistant to chemical and/or thermal effects of the emission, and a bracket for mounting the avionics unit to a surface. A method integrating the avionics unit assembly onto a forward aircraft bulkhead at a mount location under an aircraft radome and for manufacturing the avionics unit, and an aircraft including the avionics unit are also described.

  • Patent number: 11934860
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing network experience shifting, and, in particular embodiments, using either a roaming or portable hypervisor associated with a user or a local hypervisor unassociated with the user. In some embodiments, a network node in a first network might receive, via a first network access device in a second network, a request from a user device to establish roaming network access, and might authenticate a user associated with the user device, the user being unassociated with the first network access device. Based on a determination that the user is authorized to access data, content, profiles, and/or software applications that are accessible via a second network access device, the network node might establish a secure private connection through a hypervisor or container communicatively coupled to the first network access device to provide the user with access to her data, content, profiles, and/or software applications.

  • Patent number: 6672576
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of utilizing vacuum in machine tool operations utilizes vacuum, rather than clamps and fixtures, to secure the work piece to the table of the machine tool. The apparatus employs a plurality of vacuum buttons arranged on a vacuum plate or a configurable vacuum plate. This system minimizes the downtime for machine tools by permitting the set up for a particular machining operation or series of operations to be conducted off line. That is, the set up for one operation is primarily made while the machine tool is performing another operation or series of operations on another work piece. The machine tool continues to operate producing one machined, useful product while the set up for a second product is being performed. The use of a plurality of vacuum buttons arranged on a vacuum plate allows the flexibility to accommodate a variety of different work pieces.

  • Patent number: 4073373
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for assembling a stack having a precise height from a plurality of individual laminates having varying thicknesses are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises seven colinearly aligned dispensing stations for storing a stack of laminates and for dispensing a predetermined number of laminates from the first six stations and a variable number of laminates in the last seventh station; three walking beam assemblies for transporting the plates between the dispensing stations, and a means for controlling the number of laminates dispensed by the last, seventh dispensing station. The controlling means comprises a vertically extending engaging block resiliently mounted on the third walking beam for engaging the laminates to be dispensed and a resiliently mounted cut-off blade depending into and varying the height of a slot located at the bottom of the stored stack of laminates in the last dispensing station.
