    Abstract: A method of making sampling tubes containing culture growth media by loading the sample tubes containing culture media into a tray that holds the sample tubes, placing the sample tube trays into a rack with shelving to hold the trays and tubes at a predetermined angle, and sterilizing and cooling the sample tubes in an autoclave or inspissator. The culture growth media solidifies at the predetermined slant angle and the sample tube trays are loaded into the packaging box used for shipment. The trays are subsequently used by the end user for processing microbial growth, including storing and collecting data about microbial samples.

    Abstract: A steerable catheter includes a housing, an elongated tube, a steering member and a retention mechanism. The elongated tube extends from the housing. The steering member is movably attached to the housing and is interconnected to a distal tip of the elongated tube such that movement of the steering member causes a corresponding angular movement of the distal tip. The retention mechanism is carried by at least one of the steering member and the housing. The retention mechanism is operative in the first mode to provide smooth movement of the steering member relative to the housing and further operative in a second mode to provide ratcheted movement of the steering member relative to the housing.

    Abstract: A container assembly for use as a sampling device for microorganisms includes a base member and a lid removably coupled to the base member. The lid includes a top wall and a side wall depending from the top wall. The base member has a side wall with an outer surface that complements the inner surface of the side wall of the lid. A plurality of lugs are formed on the outer surface of the base member to provide a gripping force to secure the lid to the base member. The gripping force is provided by the surface area of the lugs so that the lid is secured to the base member while enabling the lid to be readily removed from the base member without sticking or binding.
