  • Publication number: 20060101028
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is a method and apparatus for efficient electronic document management. One embodiment of the inventive method involves generating one or more user-specific administrator setup files comprising a plurality of parameters pertaining to tasks and steps that users are authorized to perform on electronic documents, wherein some of the parameters are encoded using a private key so that only an authorized user having the corresponding private key can access the encoded parameters. These administrator setup files are retrieved by the corresponding users, who implement their respective administrator setup files to allow performance of at least some of the authorized tasks and steps on a selected electronic document or group of electronic documents. The inventive method substantially eliminates the potential for human error and security breaches in the performance of document management tasks.

  • Patent number: 6739437
Abstract: A vented disc brake rotor is provided. In one embodiment, the rotor includes a plurality of curved directing walls disposed between first and second braking surfaces to define a plurality of flow channels. A separating wall is disposed in each flow channel to create first and second subchannels. The total cross-sectional area of each flow channel remains substantially constant over the length of the flow channel. The flow channels can be closed to the two braking surfaces. Alternatively, the braking surfaces can be intermittent, defining a plurality of gaps that provide access to the flow channels. A tapered throat region between the braking surfaces and a hat region facilitates dissipation of heat from the braking surfaces. Rotors according to the present invention can be fabricated in a single step using various conventional casting techniques, such as die-, sand- and squeeze-casting.

  • Patent number: 6113317
Abstract: A retaining wall system and method for stabilizing earthen walls comprises box members assembled together to form a reinforcing wall assembly and anchor mesh connected to the box members and buried within the earthen wall. The box members define an interior cavity and a rear wall that engages the face of the earthen wall. Waste material such as used tires or waste dirt may be placed within the interior chambers of the box members. The anchor mesh is attached to the rear wall to inhibit lateral movement of the reinforcing wall assembly. The box members are connected to the anchor mesh by locking pins that extend through loop portions of the anchor mesh and engage a front face of the wall panels. Anchor bars are connected to the loop portions of the anchor mesh. These anchor bars engage a back face of the box members to control and limit the movement of the box members relative to the anchor mesh as earth is back-filled against the box members.
