  • Patent number: 6092628
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling temperature of fluid in a differential assembly. The apparatus includes a differential housing having a number of sidewalls which collectively define an internal component chamber, wherein (i) the internal component chamber has a differential sump located therein, and (ii) the differential sump has a sump input port defined therein. The apparatus also includes a first operational pressure source which advances fluid from the internal component chamber of the differential housing. The apparatus further includes a diverter valve which receives fluid advanced by the first operational pressure source from the internal component chamber. The diverter valve has a cold fluid output port and a hot fluid output port. A heating fluid return line is interposed between the cold fluid output port of the diverter valve and the sump input port of the differential sump.

  • Patent number: 5746413
Abstract: A fluid metering valve adaptable for outputting a fixed volume of lubricating oil from a diesel engine into an engine fuel system includes a sleeve slidably disposed in a body and a piston valve slidably disposed within the sleeve. A spring resiliently biases the sleeve to a default position blocking communication between a chamber and an outlet and the piston valve to a default position communicating an inlet with the chamber. The default position of the sleeve is established by a annular member resiliently biased into engagement with the body by another spring while the default position of the piston valve is established by another annular member urged into engagement with the body by a third spring.

  • Patent number: 5456078
Abstract: In all hydraulic systems, it is important to remove all entrained air, dirt and other impurities from the system prior to normal operation. In the subject invention, a method of purging and/or preconditioning a hydraulic system is provided and includes the steps of connecting a shunt line between opposite ends of respective fluid actuators and operating the respective valve mechanisms to force fluid from the source of pressurized fluid through the respective valve mechanisms across the respective shunt lines and back to the reservoir. Likewise, the subject invention provides a method to purge the signal control system of any entrained air, dirt and other impurities. The method also provides an easy process of "warming up" the system or totally replacing all of the fluid in the system with another type of fluid, such as fluid for arctic conditions. The method of purging the signal control system includes selectively connecting a bypass line between the reservoir and the signal control system.

  • Patent number: 4324274
Abstract: A selector valve (10) for providing a plurality of fluid signals has a plurality of signal ports (17-22) and a pair of drain ports (23,24) opening into a bore (14) of a body (11) and are angularly spaced one from another in a plane normal to the axis of the bore (14). A spool (12) is reciprocatable within the bore (14) between a plurality of positions. At each position at least one of a plurality of radial passages (48-57) in the spool (12) communicates an inlet passage (25) with a manifold (41), another of the radial passages communicates the manifold (41) with one of the signal ports (17-22) and one or more of a plurality of arcuate pockets (60-68) in the spool (12) communicate the other signal ports (17-22) with the drain ports (23,24).
