Abstract: Enzymes and recombinant host cells for the biosynthesis of clinically important prenylated polyketides of the cannabinoid family are provided. Using readily available starting materials, heterologous enzymes (e.g., bacterial CoA-transferases and CoA-ligases) are used to direct cannabinoid biosynthesis in host cells such as recombinant yeast cells.

Abstract: A medical device includes wake circuitry and telemetry circuitry. The wake circuitry is configured to receive a first set of data from a device associated with the medical device, where the first set of data is received at a frequency band. The wake circuitry is configured to output a set of pulses based on the first set of data. The wake circuitry is configured to detect a data pattern using the set of pulses. The wake circuitry is configured to output an activation signal in response to a determination that the data pattern satisfies a data pattern requirement. The telemetry circuitry is configured to output a second set of data in response to receiving the activation signal. The second set of data is transmitted at the frequency band. The telemetry circuitry is configured to establish a communication session with the device using the second set of data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for using a specified pattern of signal events for signaling in a digital communication system. Illustratively, detection of a first event in a control signal activates timing apparatus which looks for a second event in a control signal within a specified time "window" and at least one additional event in either a data or a control signal within a specified time period. Preferably, the first event is a drop in one of the carrier detect or request to send signals and the second event is a rise in the same signal. The additional event illustratively is reception of two identical data characters, each representing an address and an operation code. Each of these two characters must be received and compared for verification within the specified time period in order to produce an output control signal decoded from the operation code.
