  • Patent number: 7337811
Abstract: An apparatus and method for storing gases and liquids having a high trans-migration rate through containment surfaces due to their molecular size. An inner pressurized retaining enclosure for the storage of gas and liquids has a second enclosure wall about the first enclosure defining a gap between the respective enclosure surfaces which is filled with a containment gas or liquid having a molecular size greater than the porosity of the storage wall and stored gas or liquid. The containment gas effectively impedes the transmission of the storage gas and liquid through the first inner pressure retainer enclosure by creating a pressure barrier on its outer surface.

  • Patent number: 5421537
Abstract: An end cap has a central coupling for securing it to one end of a core on which a length of flexible material is adapted to be wound. The end cap has a partial coupling formation along one edge so that it can be assembled edge-to-edge with one or more additional end caps of identical construction to form an enlarged end cap unit in which the partial coupling formations combine to form a second coupling for securing the enlarged end cap unit to one end of a core. A locking device is also provided for releasably locking the core to an end cap.

  • Patent number: 5285891
Abstract: An improvement in a conveyor for a rotary stretch film wrapping apparatus for wrapping a product in a plastic film, the rotary stretch wrapping apparatus includes a base frame, a rotary support structure, a roll of film mounted to the support structure, a film dispensing mechanism, a pre-stretching device, and a conveyor system for passing the product through the support structure. The improved conveyor system includes a pair of horizontally adjacent endless conveyors having one piece segmented lug belts adapted to prevent portions of the segments traveling the return path from hindering the product or the plastic wrap.

  • Patent number: 5100076
Abstract: A roll for fabric or like material includes a core on which the material is adapted to be wound, and an end cap removably secured to each end of the core. The core has a replaceable, flexible flap which extends approximately 90.degree. around the core permitting the leading edge of the fabric or like material to be inserted under the flap so that subsequent turns of the wound material will not show a permanent mark or crease when the second and subsequent turns wrap over the leading edge. The end caps have an undulating pattern along their perimeters which interfit with other end caps when two or more rolls are formed into a module. Modules are combined with top and bottom pallets and bound together for shipment. The cores and end caps are composed of separable parts so that after the material has been removed, these component parts can be separated and combined into a compact package for return to the original shipper.

  • Patent number: 4729859
Abstract: A method for centrifugally casting a rectangular access floor panel includes the steps of forming a metal pan having a planar bottom, peripheral sidewalls and a plurality of upstanding tabs, inserting the metal pan into a cavity defined by a two-part mold and filling the pan within the mold with a concrete mixture. The mold is rotated about a vertical axis and vibrated to evenly distribute the concrete mixture within the pan. A smooth magnetic sheet is placed within the cavity. The sheet engages the planar bottom of the metal pan and prevents seepage of the concrete mixture through openings in the bottom of the pan during casting. The apparatus includes a turntable, a drive for rotating the turntable and a mold clamped to the turntable. The mold is vibrated during rotation to insure a void-free distribution of the mixture throughout the pan.

  • Patent number: 4639204
Abstract: An apparatus for centrifugally casting a rectangular access floor panel includes a turntable, a drive for rotating the turntable about a generally vertical axis in a generally horizontal plane, and a mold clamped to the turntable. The mold is vibrated during rotation to insure void-free distribution of a lightweight concrete mixture throughout a metal pan retained within the mold. A hopper and an auger feed the concrete mixture to the mold through a sprue. The mold retains corner pads and silencer buttons. The corner pads cooperate with pedestal heads to eliminate the need for stringers.
