  • Patent number: 11771234
Abstract: A mattress securement device having a generally planar substrate dimensioned to have one or more aperture that is circumscribed by peripheral multi-directional edges of the planar substrate. An adhesive along one side of the planar substrate enables the mattress securement device to be releasably adhered to a foundation on which a mattress is supported. The weight of the mattress urges a portion thereof into the one or more apertures and other portions of the mattress against the multi-directional edges, both of which resist the mattress moving or sliding relative to the foundation.

  • Patent number: 6871647
Abstract: An inhaler for delivering metered doses of powdered medicament, the inhaler having a plurality of compartments spaced in an array and each arranged to contain a metered dose of the medicament, a lever to displace the compartments one by one into line with an inhalation aperture that constitutes a mouthpiece, each compartment including inner and outer edges, the plurality of compartments being closed by a sealing layer, the inhaler further having a mechanism adapted to lift the sealing layer off the inner and outer edges of the compartment to open an air passageway defined by the compartment and the sealing layer so that, in use, on inhalation through the mouthpiece, air flow in the air flow passageway picks up and entrains the powder in the compartment to be drawn with the air out of the inhaler through the mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 6854244
Abstract: A carton filling apparatus has a primary conveyor section 1 for transporting cartons 2 along the length of the apparatus, and a secondary conveyor section 3 for conveying objects 4 intended to be inserted into the cartons in parallel with the cartons. Each object 4 is aligned with an open mouth of a carton 2. A pushing mechanism incorporates an overhead gantry arm 5 arranged above the conveyors to be moved along the conveyors in the longitudinal direction. A pusher bar 8 is arranged to be moved along the gantry arm over the conveyors. Pushers 9 act upon the objects in such a way as to move the objects into the cartons as the cartons and objects are moved along synchronously on the conveyors.

  • Patent number: 6804931
Abstract: A carton filling device incorporates a conveyor 1 for moving cartons 3 and objects 2 to be located in the cartons simultaneously down a track with the objects respectively facing opposite to open ends of the cartons located at one side of the conveyor, A control arm 5 is situated in a start position at the other side of the conveyor and carries pushers for engaging the objects 2 and pushing them towards and into the open ends of the cartons 3. A control mechanism is adapted to move the control arm 5 not only across the conveyor 1, but also down the conveyor at the same speed of movement as the conveyor and to return the control arm 5 back to the start position once the objects have been inserted into the cartons.

  • Patent number: 6186141
Abstract: A device for dispensing a unit dose of substance comprises a nozzle assembly (2) including a container (24) housing a unit dose of the substance, and an outer body (4) to which the nozzle assembly (2) is releasably attached. The body (4) includes a system actuable to effect discharge of the substance from the nozzle assembly (2) and actuating means operably by a user to effect discharge. Preferably the discharge system comprises a spring-loaded air piston (68) actuable to inject air into the container (24) to cause discharge of the substance. In one embodiment a driving spring for the air piston is loaded with spring energy by the action of installing the nozzle assembly on the body, the driving spring thereafter being held in a cocked state until operating of the actuating means by the user to effect release of the spring energy to cause discharge.

  • Patent number: 5851288
Abstract: A system and a method for marking a continuous substrate, such as a sheathed wire, are disclosed. An aqueous-based ink is deposited onto a continuous substrate passing through an ink deposition means. A gas, heated by a heater and directed by a blower across the continuous substrate, heats the deposited aqueous-based ink in an amount sufficient to cause a pigment of the aqueous-based ink to bond to the substrate, thereby marking the continuous substrate. In an alternate embodiment, a system for marking a continuous substrate includes an elongate housing which is disposed substantially vertically. A continuous substrate, onto which an aqueous-based ink has been deposited, is directed upwardly through the housing. Gas, which has been heated in a tube disposed within the housing, is directed across the continuous substrate, causing the pigment of the aqueous-based ink to bond to the continuous substrate and thereby mark the continuous substrate.
