  • Patent number: 4654997
Abstract: A crab trap is provided and consists of four grid covered panels hinged together forming a parallelepiped collapsible frame, two grid covered doors which are bottom hinged to the frame and two narrow grid covered locking flaps which are hinged to top panel between the side panels of the frame for stabilizing the frame when the frame is open.

  • Patent number: 4604823
Abstract: A minnow trap which is effective, simple and inexpensive to fabricate. The trap consists of four mesh covered panels forming a rectangular parallelepiped shaped mesh covered frame with open ends. A rectangular mesh covered frame with aperture is placed across each of these open ends so that small fish may easily swim in but have great difficult in exiting. Three separate embodiments are provided which allow for different collapsing techniques for easy storage, stacking and transport.

  • Patent number: 4587758
Abstract: A crab trap with a buoyancy upper cover and a sinking lower surface. When the crab trap is lowered into the water the lower surface sinks to the bottom and the top cover opens to a pre-determined point. When the trap is retrieved, the bundled hoist lines are pulled through holes in the top cover and the lower surface thereby closing the trap and trapping the crabs. The trap may be rectangular, square or circular in outline and the top cover may be solid or perforated.

  • Patent number: 4554760
Abstract: A crab trap is provided and consists of a plurality of collapsible doors. Each collapsible door is pivotally coupled to one side of a wire mesh bottom panel and slideably coupled to supports for coupling a wire mesh top panel to the bottom panel. A flexible hoist line is connected at each end to each collapsible door. When the crab trap is submerged within water the collapsible doors will collapse opening the crab trap allowing a crab to enter. When the crab trap is pulled up by the hoist line the collapsible doors will slide up closing the crab trap entrapping the crab within.

  • Patent number: 4530182
Abstract: A crab trap is provided and consists of a plurality of guide members coupling a flange of a top portion of a perforated enclosure to a base member and plurality of buoyant doors, each of which are slideably supported on two guide members. When the crab trap is submerged within water the doors will float up to the flange of the top portion opening the crab trap allowing a crab to enter. A flexible hoist line is connected to each corner of the top portion of the enclosure. When the crab trap is pulled up the water acting on the top of the door surface will push down the doors and thus the crabs are entrapped within the crab trap.
