    Abstract: An automated knife sharpening and cleaning system is provided. The system comprises a container body that is configured to hold a utensil holder that is configured to releasably couple to the container body, the utensil holder configured to hold a utensil. The system further includes a drive assembly and a gripper assembly, the gripper assembly being coupled to the drive assembly and the drive assembly being configured to move the gripper assembly within the three-dimensional coordinate space of the container body. The system further includes a grinding assembly that is configured to sharpen the utensil. During operation of the system, the gripper assembly is configured to grip the utensil and remove the utensil from the utensil holder, hold the utensil within the grinding assembly during sharpening, and replace and release the utensil in the utensil holder once the sharpening is complete. Moreover, the system may clean and sanitize the utensil.

The invention generally involves a multi-step process which produces germ (or oil), protein, and feed yeast as its co-products while maintaining or enhancing the provision of fermentable sugar to ethanol fermentation. This is accomplished by fundamentally altering the way the corn is fractionated, disrupting the cell walls rather than the protein matrix as is done in conventional wet milling.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for the direct biological production of calcium magnesium acetate using a novel combination of an aerobic thermophilic bacterium of the genus Bacillus, capable of supporting the sustained production of substantial quantities of acetic acid at low pH, high temperatures, and high salt concentrations. Strains of bacterium of the genus Bacillus selected and isolated for use in the present invention produce acetic acid in the presence of a neutralizing source of calcium and magnesium ions, such as dolomitic lime, to produce substantial quantities of calcium magnesium acetate.

The Michelson interferometer includes means for dividing an incident beam of radiation into first and second beams, means for propagating the first and second beams through first and second optical paths, respectively, means for recombining the first and second beams to form an output beam of radiation, and means for detecting an interference pattern in the output beam of radiation. The improvement comprises a beam splitter which is positioned to return a portion of the output beam of radiation to the interferometer as an incident beam of radiation, and a bandpass filter which is positioned between the beam splitter and the detector to filter from the output beam of radiation a portion which has been twice passed through the interferometer.
