  • Patent number: 7234958
Abstract: A cable retention apparatus. The cable retention apparatus includes a sheet member containing a first aperture suitable for surrounding a first connector, and at least one additional second aperture having inside dimensions which generally correspond to outside dimensions of a cable to be retained. The cable extends from one side of the sheet member through the second aperture to another side of the sheet member. The sheet member provides strain relief to maintain coupling between a second connector on the cable and the first connector.

  • Patent number: 5886336
Abstract: An optical scanner includes a housing having first and second obliquely adjoining windows. Disposed in the housing is a laser for projecting a laser beam against a rotatable spinner having a plurality of mirrored facets for sequentially reflecting the laser beam to effect a scan beam. A plurality of pattern mirrors are optically aligned with the spinner for reflecting the scan beam through the first and second windows to effect a plurality of individual scan lines arranged in first and second patterns corresponding with the first and second windows. The pattern mirrors include a triad set of mirrors optically aligned in series between the spinner and the first window for scanning the first scan pattern to a back edge of the first window for scanning at least the back side of a multisided item.

  • Patent number: 5152355
Abstract: An optical scanner weigh plate mounting apparatus which does not include fasteners requiring removal in order to gain access to the underside of the weigh plate and to a scan module within the scanner. The weigh plate mounting apparatus includes a pair of pivot arms, a load distributing member, pivot flanges for pivotally coupling the pivot arms at their first ends to the load distributing member, pivot pins for pivotally coupling the pivot arms at their second ends to the weigh plate, and a spacer between the load distributing member and a weight measuring device within the scanner for raising the weigh plate to a position flush with a checkout counter in which the scanner is installed. The mounting apparatus provides hands-free operating positions. In a closed position, the weigh plate sits substantially parallel to and above the pivot arms. In a first opened hands-free position, the weigh plate sits against a first side of the counter to expose the underside of the weigh plate.
