  • Patent number: 6107256
Abstract: This invention provides a composition for and a method of using the composition to reduce the loss of liquid from aqueous compositions employed while rotary drilling. The composition of this invention comprises a polymeric material selected from homopolymers, random copolymers and random terpolymers, each of which includes a vinylamide morpholine derivative in the recipe for making the polymeric material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 1998
Date of Patent: August 22, 2000
    Assignee: Fritz Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Rebecca G. Udarbe, Kim Hancock-Grossi, Charles R. George
  • Patent number: 6089318
Abstract: This invention discloses a polymer composition, a cement slurry containing said polymer composition and a method of using the cement slurry to cement a borehole penetrating a subsurface earth formation wherein the polymer composition is made by polymerizing a vinylamide morpholine derivative with a styrene sulfonic acid salt in the presence of a humate. The polymer composition operates to reduce fluid loss from the cement slurry to the subsurface formation.
