  • Publication number: 20170218691
Abstract: Retainer kits for prehung door assemblies comprise a plug portion and a clip portion. The plug portion is sized to extend from a face bore, through an edge bore, and into a strike bore of the prehung door assembly. The plug portion includes at least a first passage extending transversely through the plug portion. The clip portion includes two or more legs including a first leg and a second leg that is spaced apart from and generally parallel to the first leg, and a bridge that interconnects the first and second legs. The first and second legs are spaced and sized to extend on opposed sides of a strike jamb of the prehung door assembly, with one of the first and second legs extending through the first passage of the plug portion. Prehung door assemblies and methods of retaining prehung door assemblies also are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5562315
Abstract: A retainer for securing and retaining a pre-hung door unit in a closed position relative to a door jamb assembly. The retainer includes a shaped cylindrical plug configured to fit closely in the edge bore of the door. A configured end of the plug accommodates both circular and rectangular bores that are normally provided in the strike side of the door jamb. The plug is inserted into the edge bore of the door and the door is closed relative to the door jamb assembly. The plug is then moved in the edge bore so that the configured end engages the bore in the strike side to thus secure the door in the closed position. Slots provided in the configured end of the plug are arranged to receive a retention tab to secure the plug in position. The retainer is particularly suited for door jamb assemblies that have a blind bore in the strike side.

  • Patent number: 5159782
Abstract: A retainer for securing and retaining a pre-hung door unit in a closed position relative to a door jamb. The retainer includes a shaped cylindrical plug configured to fit closely in the edge bore of the door. The plug is insertable into the edge bore through the face bore of the door and has lobes extending transversely to limit its entry into the edge bore. The placement of the transverse lobes maximizes the length of the plug extending from the lobes which enables an end of the plug to extend beyond the door edge into a bore in the strike jamb of the door jamb when the door is closed relative to the door jamb. A bolt extended through the back of the strike jamb and engaging the plug secures the plug in position and secures the door in a closed position relative to the door jamb. The bolt may be tightened adequately to clamp the strike jamb to the door edge. The bolt and the plug are provided with double lead blunt end threads for rapid assembly and disassembly.
