Abstract: A glove provides high palm shear force and reduced finger shear force when pulling elongated articles such as a rope, a rod, and the like. A high COF material is applied to palm and a low COF material is applied to inner finger surfaces. The fingers are still used to grasp the elongated article, but the shear pulling force on the fingers is reduced and the shear pulling force on the palm is increased. In one embodiment, the underlying glove material on the palm and finger grasping surfaces is a synthetic leather material, the high COF material on the palm is a silicone rubber material deposited on the synthetic leather material and the low COF material on the inner finger surfaces is a ballistic material sewn onto the synthetic leather material, for example, an aramid fiber material sold under the trademark Kevlar®.

Abstract: Applicants have created systems, methods, and computer readable media for displaying custom-tailored music video content. The method can include the step of providing a first selection of the media content and the step of outputting a first portion of first media data if first media data is selected or a first portion of second media data if second media data is selected. The method can further include the step of providing a second selection of the media content and the step of outputting a selected portion of the media content among second and third portions of the first and second media data. Through the inventions described herein, an end-user can enjoy custom-tailored music video content through a process of dynamically choosing which music video characters and sub-plots to follow through to their various alternative endings.

Abstract: My invention is a flosser built into a toothbrush that allows the user(s) to floss and brush at the same time. This invention is directed towards oral hygiene. What makes my invention unique is the application of my mechanism that I've designed that allows the flosser to work in the toothbrushes handle for multiply uses (see the “Details of Invention”).

In one exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a pressurization cylinder, and a piston which is slidable within the cylinder to pressurize a gas. An aerosolizing mechanism is included and is configured to aerosolize a powdered medicament that is held within a receptacle with pressurized gas from the cylinder. A carriage assembly is included to receive the receptacle and to couple the receptacle to the aerosolizing mechanism. A first and a second interlock are operably engageable with the carriage assembly to prevent coupling of the receptacle with the aerosolization mechanism. The first interlock is released to allow movement of the carriage upon movement of the handle to the extended position.

Abstract: Isolation of an HDD production device such as a servo track writer from external vibration is provided. The isolated device and its nest or support are suspended in a fashion to allow one, two or three degrees of angular or rotational freedom of movement. The points of suspension are above the center of mass of the isolated device, alone or combined with its nest, and gravity will self-align the isolated device in the manner of an unforced pendulum. A relatively large moment of inertia for at least one direction of angular movement is provided, e.g., by positioning at least one suspension point spaced a relatively large distance from the center of mass to provide a large moment arm for such movement.

Abstract: Formulations for delivery of a pharmaceutical agent include a thixotropic agent. The pharmaceutical agent may be slowly released from a hydrogel or microcapsule in the spray formulation. Various formulations of reasonable thixotropic and hydrogel media are useful. Droplet size and thixotropy determine the distribution of the material along body surfaces and tissues such as the respiratory passages, and limit the displacement, running or dripping of the sprayed medium from its intended sites.

Abstract: A small, simple user-operated device for filling an implantable container or space inside a body structure or a void is disclosed. The device includes a delivery tube defining a load port at a proximal end and an ejection port at a distal end, an auger rod disposed within the delivery tube and extending from the load port to the ejection port, and means for rotating the auger rod. In this regard, rotation of the auger rod transports implantable filler material away from the load port and through the delivery tube and out of the ejection port to fill the container.

Abstract: A filtering and humidifying face mask is disclosed. The face mask includes a base mask and an outer mask removably secured to the base mask. The outer mask selectively retains at least one filtering layer and at least one humidifying layer. In this regard, upon donning the face mask, a wearer can remove and replace at least one of the filtering layer(s) and the humidifying layer(s) without altering a position of the base mask.

The system has one or more permeable barriers around the structural cells with a way for water to flow into the plurality of structural cells flow out of the structural cells.

In this regard, during use the respiratory sensor(s) sense information indicative of wearer respiration, and the control unit is adapted to prompt the conditioning signal electrode(s) to transmit a warning to the wearer upon detecting a variation in respiratory cycle time. The control unit is further adapted to prompt the punitive signal electrode(s) to transmit a painful pulse to the wearer upon identifying an unheeded warning from the conditioning signal electrode.

Abstract: A patient-controlled device for inhibiting intraoperative dental pain is disclosed. The device includes a removable tooth clamp, an actuator unit, and a control box. The actuator defines unit includes a vibratory actuator and a coupling device for coupling the vibratory actuator to the tooth clamp. The control box is electrically connected to the vibratory actuator and includes at least one controller. In this regard, the removable tooth clamp is configured to be attached to at least one tooth of a patient, and upon final assembly, the controller initiates oscillation of the tooth clamp via the vibratory actuator and vibrates the tooth/teeth to inhibit intraoperative dental pain.

Abstract: A system used in the deconditioning of compulsive fingernail biting includes motivating behavior at timed intervals. A method of negative feedback using positive responses is in most cases is curative of the compulsion. The timing interval between behavior motivation sessions can be adjusted for best effects in a given habitué. One version has no electronics and is used as a decoy finger for biting thus sparing the natural ones.

Abstract: A novel device and method for fusions inside a forward widely tapering human disc space. A stabilizing/guiding system is driven into and against the disc space. The device is further stabilized by spreading and gripping means inside both vertebral end plates. Rod retaining members hold calibrated rod units whose adapted tips perform reaming and threading of the disc space. Subsequently, the tapered cage or implant can be inserted by a free-hand method under direct vision into the prepared and tapered bed. Rod unit divergent angulation is preferably set to match that of the disc space as well as the implants so they obtain optimal distributed purchase of vertebral bone. In one embodiment, inserts are confluent with parallel medial walls rather than their long axes, increasing torsional or lateral translational stability and simplifying placement of additional bone chips. No tubular guide means are required.
