  • Publication number: 20100072505
Abstract: A light-emitting device assembly which can be used in many applications has a contact carrier, at least one light-emitting device, a heat sink and at least one securing member. The contact carrier has a light-emitting device receiving region and resilient contacts which are provided proximate to the light-emitting device receiving region. The at least one light-emitting device has leads which extend therefrom to mechanically and electrically engage the resilient contacts. The heat sink is thermally coupled to the at least one light-emitting device. The at least one securing member extends through the contact carrier and into the heat sink to releasably retain the contact carrier and the at least one light-emitting device in position relative to each other and relative to the heat sink.

  • Publication number: 20090316385
Abstract: An oven lighting fixture includes an LED assembly or assemblies optically coupled with an optical guide member. The lighting fixture also includes a mounting bracket and a pair of electrical leadwires to connect the LED lighting fixture to an external voltage source. The LED assembly has an LED attached to a printed circuit board containing ancillary circuitry for powering the LED, and a heat sink for removing heat from the LED. The mounting bracket is attachable to a door of the oven cavity to support the LED lighting fixture adjacent to a sidelight window. The mounting bracket has a slot adjacent to the window for transmitting light from the LED through the light guide and into the oven cavity. Positioning the lighting fixture outside of the oven cavity and adjacent to the sidelight window permits the LED to operate within required temperature limits.

  • Publication number: 20090290375
Abstract: A light engine assembly that includes a LED having a standard preselected output. The light engine assembly accepts a light guide into the assembly. The assembly includes a two-sided PCB, one side of which is a heat sink to reduce heat build-up on the board and the other side of which is a circuit that provides power to a LED positioned on the board. The circuit includes a connector for connection to a power supply and circuitry that regulates the current supplied to the LED, which is housed on the PCB. The assembly further includes a housing for the PCB that carries the PCB while protecting it from damage. The housing permits ventilation for cooling the board. The housing also includes a light guide holder barrel, which has a substantially square cross-section and is open at one end.

  • Publication number: 20090280677
Abstract: An illuminated circular plastic connector is disclosed that includes a connector socket and a connector plug. The connector socket is configured to receive light from a light source and illuminate the connector socket and/or the connector plug when the connector socket and connector plug are mated. The connector socket may include a dust cover having a light pipe attachment feature that receives light from the light source.

  • Publication number: 20090218923
Abstract: A mounting assembly for supporting an LED in a lighting fixture. A first substrate containing the LED has contact pads in electrical communication with the LED. A contact carrier has a plurality of contacts that correspond with the contact pads of the first substrate. A second substrate has electronic components to power the LED. A first contact arrangement on the second substrate engages the integral electrical contact portions of the contact carrier, and a second contact arrangement provides external connections to the electronic components. A heat sink portion is engaged in thermal contact with the contact carrier and the first substrate. The heat sink portion includes finned members for dissipation of heat generated by the LED disposed within the heat sink portion. A slot is provided in the heat sink projecting axially of the heat sink portion, for receiving and securing the second substrate.

  • Publication number: 20090219732
Abstract: An LED light pipe assembly includes a light pipe; a heat sink portion; an LED mounted on a substrate in optical communication with the light pipe; and a carrier portion for receiving the light pipe and providing electrical interconnections to the LED. The heat sink portion includes a plurality of fins and a plurality of hollow frame portions configured to dissipate heat generated by the light pipe assembly. Attachment features are provided on the heat sink for attaching the heat sink to the carrier portion. The heat sink portion also includes a hollow cavity for receiving the substrate. The carrier portion is insertable into the cavity in abutting relation with the substrate to secure the substrate in contact against the heat sink.

  • Publication number: 20090203254
Abstract: A universal mounting supports high intensity LEDs in a lighting fixture with heat removal and electrical connection facilities. A holder includes a peripheral sidewall defining a cavity for accepting a printed circuit board assembly. A support member supports the printed circuit board assembly along the peripheral sidewall. Electrical contact elements are provided the printed circuit board. A thermal conduction member is in thermal communication with the printed circuit board assembly. The receptacle portion removably engages with the holder portion. A plurality of contact sockets conductively engages the electrical contact elements of the holder portion to interconnect the contact elements to external wires. An aperture in the receptacle portion accepts the thermal conduction member, wherein the thermal conduction member passes through the aperture and into a space for dissipating heat from the printed circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20090170361
Abstract: Connector and connector assemblies for use with miniature high power electrical components, and specifically with miniature LEDs. Although the connectors and connector assemblies are designed for use with miniature LEDs, these devices are not so limited and can also be used with other miniature electronic devices. These connectors and connector assemblies provide a mechanical connection between the miniature electronic component and electrical contacts instead of a soldered connection, providing a reliable electrical contact between the component, whether used in a PCB-type drop-in connection or some other connection. The connector also includes a heat sink to remove heat from the connector assembly generated by the LED and provides for a reliable mechanical connection between the LED and heat sink.
