  • Patent number: 9999766
Abstract: A device and method verifies the electrical output of a microcurrent therapy device. The current and/or voltage of an electrical pulse, being supplied to an electrode adapted to contact tissue, is measured by a control unit. The current and/or voltage is supplied by the control unit according to a predefined waveform. Any difference in the current or voltage of the electrical pulse being supplied with respect to the current or voltage of the predefined waveform is detected.

  • Patent number: 7880334
Abstract: A system (100) for connecting a fuel cell stack to an A.C. grid to provide power thereto is disclosed in which a voltage regulated D.C. bus (110) is provided to be coupled to the fuel cell stack, a bidirectional inverter (120) is coupled to the D.C. bus (110), and is to be coupled between the D.C. bus (110) and the A.C. grid. At least one D.C. auxiliary load (130) of the fuel cell stack is provided coupled to the D.C. bus (110). A D.C. to D.C. converter (140) is provided between the fuel cell stack and the D.C. bus (110).

  • Patent number: 6936992
Abstract: An electrical machine is coupled to a load which has a torque profile which varies with angle. The machine is coupled so that the torque ripple of the machine is synchronized with the torque ripple of the load in such a manner as to provide an efficient drive system which can start at any angular position. This allows the size of the electrical machine to be reduced to a point where its average torque may be below the peak requirement of the load.

Inventors: Charles Richard Elliott, Michael Leo McClelland
  • Patent number: 6639378
Abstract: A switched reluctance drive is supplied from a power source and has a DC link capacitor. The phases of the machine are controlled by a current chopping controller which, during phase conduction overlap, controls the initiation of chopping in a second phase so as to minimize the current drawn from the capacitor, thereby allowing a reduction in the capacitor rating.

  • Publication number: 20020185990
Abstract: A switched reluctance drive is supplied from a power source. The phases of the machine are controlled by a current chopping controller which uses an excitation strategy to minimize the supply current drawn for a particular output. The strategy is to allow an outgoing phase to freewheel as long as it produces positive torque while the incoming phase is excited.

Inventors: Charles Richard Elliott, Ian Jordison
  • Publication number: 20020075621
Abstract: A switched reluctance drive is supplied from a DC bus which may have transient over-voltage disturbances on it. The transients are greatly reduced in magnitude and the switches in the drive are protected by switching on all phases of the machine together when the DC bus voltage rises above a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 5998945
Abstract: A hysteresis current controller includes a hysteresis current control device which has an adjustable hysteresis band. A feedback signal indicative of current in the load is compared with a current demand signal to produce an error signal which is received by the hysteresis control device. The switching output of the hysteresis control device is monitored to derive a signal indicative of its frequency which is used in a control loop to vary the hysteresis band to maintain the switching frequency output substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 5926011
Abstract: In an on-off current controller for an electrical machine, such as a switched reluctance motor, a delay is created in the switch-off of the current switches after the current reaches the demanded level. The delay causes the current to rise further above the demanded level, but reduces the error between the average current and the demanded level.
