Patent number: 8813213Abstract: An application provisioning device may be used to manage a profile of a host and provide data corresponding to a selected application for installation at a host. A reverse firewall may use the profile of the host to determine whether to allow or block particular network communication from an application running on the host. An indication of a selected application may be received at the application provisioning device. Configuration information may also be received at the application provisioning device. The application provisioning server may request an update to the profile of a host and transmit such a request. The profile may be updated to reflect the configuration information and/or information of the selected application. Data corresponding to the selected application may be updated and transmitted to a host computer, where it may be installed. Therefore, the installed application running on the host may operate without being prematurely blocked by the reverse firewall.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2013Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: William A. Aiello, Charles Robert Kalmanek, Jr., William J. Leighton, III, Patrick McDaniel, Subhabrata Sen, Oliver Spatscheck, Jacobus E. Van Der Merwe

Patent number: 8813141Abstract: A method of providing video content is disclosed that includes receiving video content associated with a television stream from a video source at a server of a video distribution network. The method also includes sending a primary multicast video stream corresponding to the video content to a video distribution network entity via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. The primary multicast video stream is associated with a first bandwidth. Further, the method includes sending a secondary multicast video stream to the video distribution network entity via the IP network. The secondary multicast video stream is associated with a second bandwidth. The primary multicast video stream and the secondary multicast video stream are accessible to a set-top box device via the video distribution network entity in response to a channel change request that indicates the television stream.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2007Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Properties I, L.P.Inventors: Kadangode Ramakrishnan, Charles Robert Kalmanek, Jr., Robert Duncan Doverspike, William C. Patent number: 8724625Abstract: A method of configuring a network access device connected to an access network connected to a plurality of service networks, the network device having a first network address allocated to a subscriber of services of a first service provider provided by a first service network, with a new network address allocated to a second subscriber of services of either the first service provider, or a second service provider provided by a second service network. The method comprises the steps of: sending a request from the network access device to the access network with user credentials for the second subscriber requesting access to the first service provider or a change to the second service provider; receiving a response from the access network; and initiating a network address change request using a configuration protocol.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2013Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Sean E. Publication number: 20130279899Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing a control plane across multiple optical network domains is described. In one example, topology and resource discovery is employed in a transport network having a plurality of control domains. Topology information for each of the control domains is summarized to produce summarized topology information. The summarized topology information for each of the control domains is exchanged among the control domains. At each of the control domains, the summarized topology information of each of the control domains is combined to produce combined topology information. The combined topology information is passed among network elements within each of the control domains using an intra-domain routing protocol.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2013Publication date: October 24, 2013Inventors: ROBERT DOVERSPIKE, Albert G. Greenberg, Guangzhi Li, Dongmei Wang, Jennifer Yates, Joel M. Gottlieb, Charles Robert Kalmanek, Panagiotis Sebos

Patent number: 8532137Abstract: A method and architecture for Packet-Aware Transport Networks (PATN) which supports both packet and traditional TDM services and which leverages an assemblage of emerging technologies to provide efficient aggregation and switching of packet traffic in metro networks. The PATN provides significant cost savings to carriers by reducing the number of network elements, reducing transport costs through statistical multiplexing, and eliminating the need for redundant multiplexing operations.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2004Date of Patent: September 10, 2013Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Thomas Scott Afferton, Luis Aguirre-Torres, Robert Duncan Doverspike, Charles Robert Kalmanek, Jr., Kadangode K.
