  • Publication number: 20180082139
Abstract: This invention provides an efficient and feasible method, system and computer program for retrieving total nutrition facts from purchase transaction information including receipt images and other complementary data. The said facts are used to build up the nutrition intake history, provide nutrition intake reports and customized nutrition suggestions based on the users' personal health related information and nutrition intake data. The method initiates from receiving information on a transaction in the format of an image of a receipt, or other itemized input. If the input is a receipt image, an automatic process including image processing, machine learning and text extraction is applied to retrieve the purchased items and quantity, from which total nutrition facts are derived using the nutrition information of each purchased item found in public, or in private and undisclosed vendor and distributor databases that are reconstructed in a preferred embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4080251
Abstract: A control system and method for a nuclear steam supply system for calculating the appropriate operating limits of the system based on the system's design limits. The control system monitors the appropriate parameters of the nuclear steam supply system, modifies one of the parameters, and calculates the desired operating limit on the basis of the unmodified and modified parameters. The parameter selected to be modified is adjusted in such a way as to account for the possible occurrence of all anticipated operational occurrences. The degree of adjustment encompasses the factors of the possibility of the occurrence of a worst case accident; axial power distribution; and the delay times of the protection system which include sensing, calculating, and activation time delays. The operating limit thus generated includes a margin which allows sufficient time for the termination of operation or for control of the system such that the design limits are not violated.

  • Patent number: 4046625
Abstract: An automatic motion inhibit system for a nuclear power generating system for inhibiting automatic motion of the control elements to reduce reactor power in response to a turbine load reduction. The system generates a final reactor power level setpoint signal which is continuously compared with a reactor power signal. The final reactor power level setpoint is a setpoint within the capacity of the bypass valves to bypass steam which in no event is lower in value than the lower limit of automatic control of the reactor. If the final reactor power level setpoint is greater than the reactor power, an inhibit signal is generated to inhibit automatic control of the reactor.

  • Patent number: 4016034
Abstract: A system is provided which prevents the operation of a nuclear reactor in a region of a prohibited reactor power distribution. The method of operation includes inhibiting the insertion of control rods into the reactor on the basis of a power dependent control rod insertion limit and further overriding the control of the reactor by rapidly reducing reactor power when reactor power increases to a reactor power which exceeds by a predetermined margin the limit set by the power dependent control rod insertion limit.

  • Patent number: 3997767
Abstract: A reactor trip on turbine trip inhibit control system for a nuclear power generating system which utilizes steam bypass valves. The control system inhibits a normally automatic reactor trip on turbine trip when the bypass valves have the capability of bypassing enough steam to prevent reactor trip limits from being reached and/or to prevent opening of the secondary safety pressure valves. The control system generates a bypass valve capability signal which is continuously compared with the reactor power. If the capability is greater than the reactor power, then an inhibit signal is generated which prevents a turbine trip signal from tripping the nuclear reactor.

  • Patent number: 3979255
Abstract: A method for operating a nuclear reactor or any other machine or industrial process where it is of importance to terminate operation when a given parameter deviates from a variable operating value by more than a given amount regardless of the rate at which the deviation occurs. A variable setpoint is continuously generated from the past history of the operating parameter by adding the current value to a predetermined excursion margin whenever this causes the variable setpoint to decrease. The setpoint remains constant whenever the operating parameter is increasing so that a system trip is initiated whenever the setpoint is exceeded. The variable setpoint is permitted to increase to within the excursion margin of the operating parameter only when independent authorization is given indicating that the increase is legitimate.

  • Patent number: 3932213
Abstract: A turbine follow system and method for pressurized water reactors with a multiplicity of load bypass valves to provide a substitute load upon a load rejection by shunting excess steam around the load to a condenser. The system provides a circuit whereby not more than one valve is opened on any one system or operator error by utilizing circuit redundancy and a permissive gate operated by one of the redundant circuits.
