Publication number: 20150359305Abstract: A covering device wraps around a mobility aid, such as a walking cane, to display a decorative design. The device includes at least one panel that can be triggered to form a tensioned grip on a mobility aid and display a decoration, message, or image on a portion of the mobility aid. A spring layer having a slight curve and woven metal coils creates a tension therebetween. The tension is released upon contact with the mobility aid to enable the panel to wrap around the mobility aid and form a snug grip. The panel also utilizes a mounting layer having a frictional polyurethane composition creating friction with the mobility aid and creating a non-slip surface. While joined with the mobility aid, the covering device displays a decoration, message, label, or symbol in the form of a decorative portion, like rhinestones, enabling personal expression.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2014Publication date: December 17, 2015Inventors: Charles Shapiro, Mary Lou Shapiro

Patent number: 9009488Abstract: A security interface system creates plausible deniability, and consists of a security interface device having a port for a releasable connection to a PC and to a memory key containing an encrypted operating system, the interface device containing logic to decrypt the memory key and a plaintext bootloader, and a further port for a memory card containing a key. The key is entirely encrypted and appears as random data when inspected. The interface device may have a port(s) for a keyboard and mouse. An encryption and decryption method is described, for decrypting a ciphertext into one of two plaintexts by choice of a key, the choice of which plaintext depending on whether the secret is to be revealed or remain confidential.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2012Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Inventors: Dong Liang She, Daniel Charles Shapiro, Jonathan Marc Parri

Patent number: 5897412Abstract: The present invention provides a shoe repair composite material having a cloth layer bonded to the bottom of a shoe with a bonding adhesive layer. The cloth layer has a thickness of approximately 0.020 inches and is impregnated with a contact cement sold under the trademark DAP WELDWOOD.TM.. The bonding adhesive layer is made of double sided specialty coated tape sold under the trademark TESAFIX.TM., type 4964 Textile Fixing and Splicing Tape, having a thickness of approximately 0.020 inches. These two layers are bonded together and then covered with peel-removable paper to protect the contact cement and the bonding adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, the cloth layer is covered with a vinyl layer having a thickness of approximately 0.020 inches to provide a tough, inelastic and scuff-resistant outer layer. This vinyl layer provides a plurality of approximately 700 embossed protrusions per square inch to provide scuff-resistance and increased traction.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Inventor: Charles Shapiro
