  • Patent number: 5664818
Abstract: The invention provides a carrier for hot baking dishes and the like having two movable handles (16) and two fixed handles (12b). With the fixed handles (12b) the apparatus can be lifted and moves using two hands. The movable handles (16) are pivotally connected to the base members (10) thus allowing them to be moved to an upright, carrying position and a lowered, loading position. With movable handles (16) in the carrying position the apparatus can be carried using only one hand. In the lowered position the movable handles (16) are positioned to provide finger access to both the flanges of a dish sitting on the carrier and to the fixed handles of the carrier. Therefore, with movable handles (16) in the down position, dishes can be loaded onto and off of the apparatus. Also, food can be added to or removed from the dish thereon.

  • Patent number: 5161041
Abstract: An improved lighting assembly for a backlit electronic display includes an integrally formed image splitting/collimating lens for effectively enlarging the area illuminated by any one or part of one of the lamps of the source of backlighting. Through the use of the improved optical assembly described herein, there is provided a backlit electronic display characterized by fewer lamps, reduced heating, and vastly improved intensity of illumination per unit area in a lower profile package.

  • Patent number: 5128783
Abstract: Improved backlighting for a liquid crystal display is provided by an integral diffusing/collimating lens fabricated from a translucent optical media in which glass beads are suspended. The optical media is configured in substantially the same shape as the array of lamps which illuminate the backlit display and serves as both a lens and a diffuser. The lens effect is obtained by positioning the optical media so that the focal length thereof is at the lamp location. In this manner, the optical media behaves as a collimating lens. The optical effect simultaneously occurs at the air-to-material interface. Of course, the translucent material from which the media is fabricated diffuses light so as to uniformly distribute light emanating from said lamps in all directions.

  • Patent number: 3985233
Abstract: A seedling cleaning system has an infeed end and an outfeed end with an agitating conveying surface therebetween in order to shake and remove the soil from seedlings while continuously conveying them. A plurality of agitating cams are laterally spaced along a plurality of longitudinally spaced rotatable shafts. An overhead water spray may be provided towards the outfeed end for further cleaning.
