  • Patent number: 10246939
Abstract: An extension module is provided for attachment to a folding or rigid ladder to extend the effective working height of the ladder. A ladder that is designed for use with an extension module according to the invention defines the base module to which the extension module is attached. Cooperatively constructed interconnecting structures on the ladder and the extension module operate to secure the extension module to the ladder and to stabilize the combination of the ladder with the extension.

  • Publication number: 20160215971
Abstract: An electric or non-electric candle holder formed in the shape of a holiday tree having a plurality of movable branches that are formed to hold electric or non-electric candles on the branches and also formed to hold at least one holiday ornaments on the branches. The tree shape may be in the form of an evergreen or pine tree and may further have a symmetrical number of branches on either side of a single central trunk so that the holiday tree may be used for Hanukkah celebrations or, in a different configuration, for Kwanzaa celebrations. In further embodiments, the holiday tree may include wireless connectivity to allow for control of individual lighting via a smart phone app or other remote device, or may also include one or more monitors or sensors to alert for smoke, carbon dioxide, motion, or breakage, including glass breakage.

  • Patent number: 9110919
Abstract: A method for quickly identifying data residing on a volume in a multivolume file system. The method includes generating a file location map, the file location map containing a list of the locations of files that occupy space on each of a plurality of volumes of the file system. The file system comprises least a first volume and a second volume. The file location map is updated in accordance with changes in a file change log for the file system. Data residing on the first volume of the file system is identified by scanning the file location map.

  • Patent number: 8732217
Abstract: A method for identifying data for relocation in a multivolume file system. The method includes generating a file location map, the file location map containing a list of the locations of files that occupy space on each of a plurality of volumes of the file system, wherein The file system comprising least a first volume and a second volume. The method further includes updating the file location map in accordance with changes in a file change log for the file system, and identifying data residing on the first volume of the file system by scanning the file location map. Using the identified data, a ratio of per-file activity during a first time period relative to overall file system activity over a second time period is calculated to derive a file activity ratio for each of the files of the identified data. Files are then selected for relocation based on the file activity ratio.

  • Patent number: 8578124
Abstract: Systems and methods for information storage replication are presented. In one embodiment a storage flow control method includes receiving a memory operation indication; performing a pre-reserve allocation process before proceeding with the memory operation, wherein the pre-reserve allocation process includes converting available unallocated memory space to allocated memory space if there is sufficient available unallocated memory space to perform the memory operation; executing the memory operation if the pre-reserve allocation process returns an indication there is sufficient memory space allocated to perform the memory operation; and aborting the memory operation if the pre-reserve allocation process returns an indication there is sufficient memory space allocated to perform the memory operation. In one embodiment, the memory operation is a write operation. The memory operation can be a write operation.

  • Publication number: 20050010620
Abstract: A computer accessible medium comprises instructions which, when executed, receive a request to allocate one or more blocks for a file. At least one allocation policy is assigned to the file, wherein the allocation policy specifies one or more storage units on which the blocks are to be allocated. Additionally, if more than one storage unit is specified, the allocation policy includes a control indication indicating a mechanism for selecting among the storage units. The instructions, when executed, may also allocate blocks according to the allocation policy. In another implementation, a computer accessible medium comprises instructions which, when executed receive a request to allocate one or more blocks for a file in a filesystem and allocate blocks according to an allocation policy. Allocation policies are specifiable at two or more levels of granularity in the filesystem.

  • Patent number: 3960224
Abstract: A precision cut-off weighing apparatus having a balance type weighing device on which a desired weight is placed on one side and a bag to be filled with a fluid such as blood on the other. A magnet is mounted on the arm of the balance on which the bag is placed and a reed switch in a circuit mounted in proximity of the magnet to be influenced to close the circuit when the arm swings to the balanced position and bag has been filled to substantially the exact weight desired. The circuit is connected to a lever mounted on a support through which a tube extends to the bag whereby when the reed switch has been actuated, the lever swings to compress the tube and thereby prevent any further flow of fluid to the bag.
