  • Publication number: 20230137747
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to detect, isolate, and/or mitigate an attack on a file system, for example, by malicious software, human actors, and/or compromised Internet-connected devices (bots). A processor of a data processing system detects an abnormal file system access pattern to a file system by applying statistical process control to network layer packets. Based on detecting the abnormal file system access pattern, the processor temporarily suspends file system access by at least one user ID contributing to the abnormal file system access pattern. The processor provides a notification identifying one or more file system object accessed in the abnormal file system access pattern.

  • Patent number: 10620147
Abstract: A sensor interface for interfacing with a sensor such as an electrochemical sensor, a temperature sensor or the like in which the interface comprises a memory configured to store data received at the interface from a sensor. The sensor interface is configured to assess the difference between data values in the memory, and to transmit advertising packets at a rate dependent on the difference between the values. The sensor interface includes a volatile memory and a non-volatile memory. The volatile memory is configured to store data received at the sensor interface from a sensor. The non-volatile memory is configured to store data stored in the volatile memory. The sensor interface is configured such that: data received at the sensor is stored in the volatile memory forming stored data until the volatile memory is substantially full and then at least some of the stored data is transferred to the non-volatile memory.

  • Publication number: 20070031171
Abstract: The invention refers to a refillable tape cassette (2,7) for accomodating a supply of printable tape. In order to avoid the need for different tape cassettes for different tape widths it is proposed that the tape cassette (2,7) is capable of selectively housing supplies of tapes of different widths. Alternatively or additionally, the tape cassette (2,7) can have a housing comprising a base (40) on which said tape supply can be releasably fixed, and a lid (42) fixed to said base (40), wherein the lid (42) is pivotally mounted to said base by means of a hinge (46). Further, proposals are made to hold the windings of refill tape units (30) together by means of a strip (60) of adhesive or wax on the axial ends of the units, or by scuffing the backing layer (9) of an image receiving tape (4) which is broader than the image receiving layer.

  • Publication number: 20050052287
Abstract: An RFID tag (200) and similar control/sensing unit (300) for a communications system are described. The control/sensing unit has a control element (301) having one or more states, and include an antenna (207) as well as an electrical circuit (201-206) generating a pulse control signal for controlling transmission from the antenna and varying a parameter of the pulse control signal in dependence on the state of the control element (301). Also disclosed is a receiving communication unit in the form of a base unit or system controller for such a communications system, the unit including a receiver (100) for receiving a pulsed RF signal and an electrical circuit (105-106) for detecting a parameter of the pulsed RF signal. An output circuit (107) then produces an output control signal dependent on the detected parameter of the pulsed RF signal.

  • Patent number: 6674543
Abstract: A printer with a housing arranged to be manually positioned on an image receiving medium. In order to allow easy alignment, a window is provided such that the print face is visible through the window. A controller of the printer is operable to detect markings on an image receiving medium, the markings being scanned by means of a scanner. An indicator referring to a direction in which the printer is to be moved and the detected markings are displayed in order to obtain alignment between the print face and the detected markings. The printer uses a medium with alignment marks, or alternately prints alignment marks onto a medium. Finally, a base station with an adjustable stop for positioning a print medium is included.

  • Patent number: 6499840
Abstract: The invention relates to a printer including a scanning mechanism provided in a housing, a mounting mechanism for releasably mounting a print head to the scanning mechanism, and an aperture. The scanning mechanism is arranged to move within the housing. The aperture is provided within the housing and arranged to be placed on, or adjacent to, an image receiving medium such that the print head, when mounted, is operable to print onto the image receiving medium through the aperture. In order to engrave an image into the image receiving medium, it is proposed that the mounting mechanism is arranged to accommodate a holding mechanism which holds a machining device for machining a medium. The printer may be provided with an ink supply containing a security ink, especially for printing entry receipts onto the hand of as customer entering a discotheque, concert, or other event.

  • Patent number: 5656156
Abstract: A solvent parts washer of the closed cycle type has an additional, independently controlled continuously cycled pump which recycles the solvent through a bypass filter. The pump has a suction inlet at the bottom of the parts washer bin and continuously passes a flow of solvent through the pass filter. This is one of a number of filters, commonly known as paper towel or paper roll filters, in which a liquid to be filtered is forced at a high pressure and low flow rate along the interstices between adjacent compacted sheets of a filtering medium. Such filter media and filters have relatively low flow rates because of their cleaning (filtering) capability is by absorption rather than screening, but have an exceptionally high ability to remove particles down to the sub-micron level from a filtered liquid. An agitator pipe in the solvent return flow serves to flush particulate contamination into the filter pump inlet. The invention maintains the solvent substantially free of contamination above the 0.
