Publication number: 20240085113Abstract: An efficient method of installing an access door in a high temperature structure having an outer door casing spaced from an inner door liner, wherein the casing and liner are aligned to thereby define a passageway through a wall of the structure. The space between the casing, the liner and the structure wall is filled with compressed insulation, and this filled space is temporarily closed off with liner insert plates which thereby compress the insulation and provide a temporary door casing frame. The replacement prehung door assembly is installed in this surrounding temporary door casing frame, and the doorframe assembly is secured to the inner door liner, and thereafter the temporary insert plates closing off the space between the door casing and door liner are removed thereby permitting the compressed insulation in the space between the casing and the liner to expand and engage the doorframe assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: Power & Industrial Services CorporationInventors: Michael Lance Rhoades, Albert Charles Suter, IV

Patent number: 11181060Abstract: A method for downshifting a vehicle having an automatic transmission is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not conditions are met for a power matching downshift. If conditions are met for a power matching downshift, output power of a powertrain propulsion torque source at an end of the power matching downshift is adjusted to an output power of the powertrain propulsion torque source at the beginning of the power matching downshift plus an offset power.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2020Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Bradley Dean Riedle, Kurt Howard Nickerson, Jianping Zhang, Kendrick Morrison, David H. Schmitt, Markian Oleh Diakiw, Charles Suter

Patent number: 7216025Abstract: An adaptive pressure control method for synchronous downshifts in an automatic transmission that uses pressure actuated friction elements. The method uses characteristic parameters that determine downshift quality for both power-on downshifts and power-off downshifts. Selected measured variables are monitored to detect changes in the parameters. Adjustments for the friction elements are made in response to changes in the measured variables.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2003Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Brian Keyse, Steve Cicala, Ihab Soliman, Charles Suter, Kurt Nickerson, Bradley Riedle

Patent number: 7014592Abstract: A method for controlling an automatic transmission in a vehicle is provided. The method selectively provides automatic engine braking for the vehicle. When it is determined that automatic engine braking is desired, the upshift schedule is increased, such that a higher vehicle speed is required to upshift for any given accelerator pedal position. The transmission is automatically downshifted to a lower gear to provide engine braking for the vehicle, when a vehicle acceleration threshold is exceeded. The automatic downshifting of the transmission can occur when the brake pedal is engaged, and when the brake pedal is disengaged.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2003Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Philip Wiethe, Charles Suter, Ken Sovel, Kurt Nickerson, Bruce Palansky, Bradley Riedle
