  • Patent number: 8669911
Abstract: An antenna transmission line for feeding multiple items includes a first conductor member, a second conductor member, and a dielectric material positioned between the first and second conductor members, which prevents water from accumulating between the first and second conductive members. Means are provided to connect multiple elements to the transmission line at connection terminals. An insulator may be provided adjacent to each of the connection terminals, the insulator being generally non-conductive. A plurality of holes provided in the insulator on either side of the conductor members allows the elements to be weaved therethrough to provide a more stable connection.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 11, 2014
    Assignee: PDS Electronics, Inc.
Inventors: Paul D. Sergi, Charles T. Rauch
  • Patent number: 8175546
Abstract: The present receive antenna interface for an RF (radio frequency) transceiver includes a transmitting and receiving antenna. The receive antenna interface also includes a relay and an electrically-isolated transmit-ground connector that are configured such that the receiving antenna is not capable of being used by the transceiver unless the transmit-ground connector is connected to a ground-on-transmit connector provided by the transceiver. As a result, damage from the accidental transmission of RF signals into the receiving circuitry of the transceiver is prevented.

  • Patent number: 7573349
Abstract: The present antenna system includes a balun for coupling an antenna to a feed line. The balun has at least two transmission line transformers, such that the transmission line transformers are coupled in parallel at their inputs with the feedline, and coupled in series at their outputs with the antenna. At least one of the transmission line transformers maintained by the balun is fabricated so that it has reduced power dissipation properties, and reduced electromagnetic stress handling properties with respect to the other transmission line transformers. Such considerations reduce fabrication time, waste of material, and the cost of the balun.

  • Patent number: 7423588
Abstract: The present antenna system includes a phased array antenna system comprising a limiting circuit, an isolation circuit, and a phasing circuit. The limiting circuit includes a system of fast signal diodes coupled with a zener diode, which provides sharp limiting and increased limiting thresholds to received signals. In addition, the isolation circuit prevents a cable coupled to the output of the antenna unit from becoming electrically coupled with the antenna element itself. Furthermore, the phasing circuit allows the present antenna system to provide a null in a fixed direction over a wide bandwidth of signal receiving frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7319435
Abstract: A balun used in high-power applications capable of accommodating a transmission line includes a core with a top surface and a bottom surface formed from soft iron material. At least two holes are provided through the core between the top surface and the bottom surface to accommodate at least one winding of the transmission line. For a given amount of core material and transmission line wound through the core, the balun serves to maximize the amount impedance on the outside surface of the transmission line to decrease the amount of electrical flux generated where the transmission line is attached to the transmission lines of an antenna.
