  • Publication number: 20070237798
Abstract: The present invention pertains to oil-in-water emulsion compositions having hydrophobic materials stably dispersed therein and methods for making such. The preferred method of making the emulsion compositions the formation of two O/W emulsions. A first O/W emulsion is for wetting or otherwise pre-treating the hydrophobic components. Thereafter, the first emulsion is added to a second O/W emulsion after the second emulsion has been formed. Both emulsions use a ternary surfactant blend of cationic, anionic and bridging surfactants, making the finished product a double or “binary-CAN” emulsion system. Generally, the system has a bi-modal oil droplet distribution.

  • Publication number: 20060136008
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a neurological stimulation system includes an electrical stimulation lead suited for implantation into the epidural space overlying the medulla for stimulation of nerve tissue in the brain stem. The lead includes a plurality of electrodes suited to be positioned in the epidural space overlying the medulla and to deliver stimulation energy to the nerve tissue. The system also includes a stimulation source suited for implantation into the person's body and operable to generate signals for transmission to the electrodes of the lead positioned in the epidural space overlying the medulla to cause the electrodes to deliver stimulation energy to the nerve tissue. In a particular embodiment, the lead may be suited for implantation posteriorly on, in, or near the brain stem overlying the medulla. In a particular embodiment, the lead may be inserted through an open craniotomy or a burr hole located approximately over the junction of the occiput and the first or second cervical vertebrae.

  • Publication number: 20050133544
Abstract: A dip tube for micropump dispensers which dip tube interacts with a cosmetic product. By controlling the particle distribution of one or more isolated ingredients along the length of the dip tube, the present invention achieves controlled effects. These effects may be to impart uniform chemical properties to the formulation or to create sophisticated visual effects. The invention includes a method of retrofitting an ordinary dip tube to turn it into a functional dip tube.
