  • Patent number: 5284445
Abstract: This invention relates generally to portable drawing surfaces and more particularly to a base structure with interchangeable components. The invention permits the manufacture of a base structure that can be combined with an accessory unit and a working surface to create either a lighted drawing surface or a drawing surface with a utensil accessory tray. This results in substantial savings in manufacturing costs as tooling requirements are substantially lowered. The lighted drawing surface includes a working surface, a lighting accessory unit and a base structure to provide a backlit surface for tracing and drawing. The portable drawing surface replaces the lighting accessory unit with a utensil accessory unit and thereby provides a drawing surface with a tray for displaying and organizing utensils.

  • Patent number: 5190151
Abstract: A storage and carrying container (10) for children's possessions having at least a body portion (14), a handle portion (16) and internally disposed barrier elements (17), (18), (19), (20) serving to reduce the effective diameter of the body portion thereby preventing a child from substantially inserting his or her head into the internal storage area thus preventing the child from utilizing the container as a hat.

  • Patent number: 4991299
Abstract: The invention provides a single, universal crayon sharpener capable of accommodating many different sizes of crayons or other similar marking instruments. The invention includes asymmetrical sharpening slots and cutting flanges which cooperate with an internal guide wal to ensure the proper placement and sharpening of a large range of crayon sizes. The use of asymmetrical sharpening slots and cutting flanges, and an internal guide wall, in addition, permits the efficient reinforcement of the sharpener to resist the forces and stresses generated during the sharpening process.

  • Patent number: 4969766
Abstract: A cap for use with marking instruments having a barrel which carries at one end a marking nib. The cap comprises a generally cylindrical shell which is open at both ends. A conical shaped nib sealing element is disposed within the interior of the shell and spaced from each end thereof. The nib sealing element is adapted to fit over and seal the marking nib and is spaced from the cap shell to permit air to pass therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3937537
Abstract: A plastic molded refrigerator pan and window assembly in which the front wall of the pan includes a large opening within which is disposed a separable snap-engaging clear plastic panel. The engagement is provided by upper and lower channels provided in the respective edges of the panel which engage opposing sides of the front wall adjacent the edge of the opening. Because of the generally unsupported and flexible nature of the front wall along the upper edge of the opening, the panel engaging structure includes tab portions of varying height which in certain areas snap into the respective opposing channel and at other areas require sufficient forceful displacement of the top of the wall to seat the tab in the flange so that unintended disengagement is prevented even at the most flexible area of the panel.
