  • Patent number: 6694862
Abstract: A hand-operated pump, readily accessible and useable by people with disabilities, complies with the specifications set forth in the American Disabilities Act. The reciprocating pump provides for counterbalance-assisted rotary motion input by the user, is simple in design, inexpensive to produce, operates reliably in the field, and requires very little maintenance. The pump is suitable for use in remote areas, such as on ranches, farms and in the National Forest System campgrounds and recreational areas.

  • Patent number: 6345933
Abstract: An underground storage tank with backfill deflectors is provided to permit installation of the storage tank underground without requiring any workers to enter the excavation. The backfill deflectors are preferably elongate, and generally the same length as or longer than the storage tanks with which they are used and are installed on the bottom of the excavation on either side of the tank. The deflectors have walls which are sloped or inclined in a direction which tends to direct backfill dumped thereon underneath the storage tank. Desirably, the deflectors direct the backfill under the tank without requiring any of the workers to enter the excavation to shovel the backfill underneath the lower portion or haunches of the tank. After a sufficient level of backfill is introduced into the excavation and directed under the tank by the deflectors, the backfill is vibrated to achieve a compacted backfill under the tank which is sufficient to support the tank.

  • Patent number: 5570805
Abstract: An above ground storage container assembly comprises a steel tank for volatile liquid housed within a concrete vault. The walls of the vault are spaced from the tank to provide an air envelop around the tank. The air envelop is vented to prevent the tank from rusting or corroding. Lifting bars are anchored in the vault so that the entire assembly may be raised. A spill trap surrounds the fill opening from the tank and also surrounds a drain hole with removable plug.

  • Patent number: 5398841
Abstract: A peninsula which extends outwardly from a wall of a container for receiving and supporting a fluid-dispensing pump thereon for dispensing liquid in the container. The peninsula has a pump mounting platform surface that is elevated above ground level and set back from an outer edge of the peninsula for preventing another object from colliding with the pump. An upraised curb, which includes a pair of outwardly extending walls and an interconnecting rear wall, borders the sides and rear of the platform surface to shield and support the pump. The peninsula has a sump basin in the platform surface that is positioned underneath the pump for collecting leaking fluid from the pump and associated piping and containing the fluid in an environmentally safe manner.

  • Patent number: 5285922
Abstract: A dual compartment liquid storage tank has a bottom wall, an annular side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall and a top cover, to define an interior space. A bulkhead extends across the interior space to divide it into two separate compartments completely isolated from one another. The bulkhead is arcuately curved about a vertical axis and is marginally sealed to the bottom and side walls and top cover to prevent transmission of liquid from one compartment to the other. The curved configuration of the bulkhead withstands pressure differentials due to unequally filled compartments without buckling or distortion or failure of the seals, more effectively than a flat bulkhead.

  • Patent number: 5201435
Abstract: An above ground storage facility for volatile and inflammable liquids which includes a concrete vault formed as a base and cylindrical upstanding walls on or integral with said base. An inner liquid container formed of metal has a metal base resting on ribs of the vault base to space the metal container from the vault base. Cylindrical walls of the liquid container are sealed to and rise from said metal base. The walls of the metal container are spaced inwardly from the inner surface of the vault walls to leave an annular envelope of air around the metal container. A conical roof is secured and sealed to the upper edges of the metal cylindrical walls and the roof has peripheral edges which overlie and are spaced from the upper edges of the concrete wall and the annular air envelope around the steel container.
